  • Patent number: 5645961
Abstract: A zinc anode can is formed of a zinc based alloy material including 0.004-0.800 wt % of indium, 0.001-0.25 wt % of titanium or 0.002-0.500 wt % of zirconium, without containing significant amounts of harmful substances such as mercury, cadmium, or lead, is provided. A method of manufacturing of such zinc anode can enabling addition of up to 0.800 wt % of indium includes hot rolling of the zinc base alloy in a temperature range of 270-370.degree. C. A manganese dry battery includes a separator on which is coated a paste having 0.1-8 wt % of InCl.sub.3. The separator is disposed on the inner surface of the zinc can. An interior of the separator is filled with a cathode mixture containing conductive carbonaceous material such as manganese dioxide, and acetylene black and electrolyte with a ZnCl.sub.2 concentration of 35-50 wt %. A carbon rod as a collector is inserted into the center of the cathode mixture.
