  • Publication number: 20040120691
Abstract: After an ACK is received from a digital video camera (DVC), a DV control program judges whether a transport time-out acquired from a wTransportTimeout field has elapsed or not. If a status change notification is received before the lapse of the transport time-out or if the status change notification cannot be received before the lapse of the transport time-out, the DV control program transmits a status request (a request for requesting status information representative of the current status of DVC) to DVC via a control pipe. With the provision of such a DV control program, it becomes possible to reliably know a change in the status of DVC to a predetermined status by using Universal Serial Bus (USB).

  • Publication number: 20040101288
Abstract: A digital video apparatus having a DIF unit that generates and detects a common isochronous packet (CIP) header having a MODE field and a STATE field or a data header equivalent to the CIP header. The MODE field is a field storing values representing operation modes of the digital video apparatus, and the STATE field is a field storing values representing a playing direction, a playing speed, and the like of the digital video apparatus. In this way, the MODE field and the STATE field are provided in the CIP header or the data header equivalent to the CIP header, whereby an operation state of a transmission source apparatus can be notified to a transmission destination apparatus without using a special command.

  • Patent number: 6690648
Abstract: There is disclosed a communication system and communication protocol in which a source node and one or more destination nodes are logically connected, and a connection ID for identifying the logical connection relationship is used to control data communication between the nodes. There is also disclosed an efficient communication system and communication protocol in which an optimum time interval between a time to transmit an i-th (i being an optional integer) data and a time to transmit an (i+1)-th data can be set. There is further disclosed a communication system and communication protocol in which when the i-th data is not normally received, retry is inhibited only for a predetermined time to prevent the retry from unnecessarily occurring between a destination node slow in receiving process and a source node fast in transmitting process.

  • Patent number: 6678769
Abstract: Provided are a communication system and a communication protocol for logically connecting a source node and one or more destination nodes, and for controlling data communication between the individual nodes by employing a connection ID that is used to identity the logical connection relationship. Further, provided are a communication system and a communication protocol for correlating a connection ID with an offset address that designates in common the memory spaces included in one or more destination nodes, and for simplifying the designation of the offset address and the identification of the connection ID for data that are received. Furthermore, provided are a communication system and a communication protocol for inhibiting an increase in a delay time that occurs before data communication is initiated between a source node and a plurality of destination nodes.

  • Publication number: 20030179719
Abstract: The source transmits a packet with a predetermined transfer rate to each destination and recognizes the maximum transfer rate to each destination according to the presence or absence of response to such packet. After the maximum transfer rate is recognized, the source generates plural packets from the information data and transfers these packets in succession at the maximum transfer rate. Thus the maximum transfer rate available between two or more electronic devices can be easily detected without complicated analysis.

  • Publication number: 20030133024
Abstract: A digital video camera detects a scalability type which is required by an external device so that a still image file having a resolution or an image quality required by the external device is sent to the external device. If the scalability type required by the external device is resolution, the digital video camera converts a picture size of a JPEG-2000 file to 1/M (M is an integer equal to or greater than 1) as instructed by a controller, and sends the converted JPEG-2000 file to the external device. If the scalability required by the external device is image quality, the digital video camera converts an image quality of a JPEG-2000 file to 1/N (N is an integer equal to or greater than 1) as instructed by a controller, and sends the converted JPEG-2000 file to the external device.

  • Patent number: 5943444
Abstract: A construction circuit which constructs data of nondecodable blocks by using interpolation data generated by a predetermined method, a movement estimation circuit which estimates the movement of the nondecodable blocks on the basis of the movement of the blocks surrounding the nondecodable block, and an error pattern detecting circuit which detects an error state of the surrounding blocks and controls the movement estimation circuit on the basis of the error state, are provided. The construction circuit constructs nondecodable data on the basis of the result of the estimation by the movement estimation circuit. An image reproducing apparatus is provided which is capable of obtaining a reproduced image having reduced visual deterioration by estimating movement on the basis of the blocks surrounding the nondecodable block when the data of the nondecodable block is reproduced and detecting the error state of the adjacent blocks.

  • Patent number: 5748795
Abstract: Noise contained in a reproducing image signal is suppressed by performing a filtering operation on an image signal obtained by decoding data that has been coded with a unit of a block consisting of m.times.n pixels. A filter circuit having a plurality of filter characteristics suppresses noise, and a characteristics selection circuit switches the filter characteristics of the filter circuit by use of a quantizing parameter employed for coding the image signal.
