  • Publication number: 20090218457
Abstract: A shell type outer ring 2 of a shell type needle roller bearing 1 is formed by a pressing combined with an ironing step, and the lubricating conditions in this ironing step on the outer-diameter ironed surface, which becomes the outer-diameter surface of the outer ring 2, are in a substantially fluid lubricating state so as to restrict the circumferential surface roughness of the inner-diameter surface, the inner-diameter roundness, and the amount of uneven thickness of the tubular portion to predetermined value ranges, thereby prolonging the life of the shell type needle roller bearing and lowering the acoustic level during use.

  • Publication number: 20080298734
Abstract: To further reduce the manufacturing cost of a shell type needle roller bearing, and to ensure high quality of the shell type outer ring by subjecting the outer ring to a heat treatment that needs no adjustment of the atmosphere. The steel sheet to be formed into the shell type outer ring 1 by pressing is made of a medium to high carbon steel containing carbon by not less than 0.3 mass percent. With this arrangement, the material cost and thus the manufacturing cost are lower than when using a conventional low-carbon structural alloy steel sheet or a steel sheet for cold rolling and pressing. Also, it is possible to ensure high quality of the outer ring by subjecting the outer ring to simple heat treatment without the need for carburizing or carbonitriding, which needs adjustment of the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 7398724
Abstract: A support structure carrying a thrust load of a compressor has a swash plate which contributes to a compressing operation by rotating according to rotation of a rotating shaft which is rotatably supported by a housing. The swash plate is rotatably supported with respect to the housing, and the support structure includes a thrust needle roller bearing having double-row needle rollers. The support structure carrying a thrust load of a compressor and the thrust needle roller bearing are thus obtained, with an improvement in inflow and outflow of a lubricating oil, a reduction of the differential slip of the needle rollers, and an improvement in strength durability.

  • Patent number: 7273318
Abstract: A thrust needle roller bearing and a method for manufacturing the bearing with improved lubricant circulating ability, reduced drilling abrasion of the cage, and improved durability of the bearing has a plurality of needle rollers and two annular cages. Each of the cages is formed with a plurality of pockets. Each pocket has a radial length longer than the height of the roller. The two annular cages hold the needle rollers by sandwiching them between the cages within roller holding portions formed in the pockets. The radial length of each of the roller holding portions of the cages is formed shorter than the height of the roller. The two cages are assembled by folding them as a unit so that both the portions of the unit on either radially outer and inner side of the roller holding portions have their axial thickness smaller than that of the roller holding portions. The two cages are secured to one another at both their radially outermost and innermost end portions.

  • Publication number: 20070172168
Abstract: [Object] To prolong the life of a shell type needle roller bearing used e.g. for a support structure for a compressor spindle or for a support structure for a piston pump driving portion, and to lower the acoustic level during use. • Publication number: 20070154127
Abstract: The object is to efficiently subject steel retainers of needle roller bearings to heat treatment in a short period of time even in small-lot production using compact treatment facilities, thereby producing retainers having improved resistance to wear and surface damage and high in fatigue strength and fracture strength as a whole. The steel retainer 3, which retains needle rollers 2, is formed from a steel plate containing 0.15 to 1.10% by mass of carbon. After forming, the steel plate is subjected to induction heat treatment comprising induction hardening and induction tempering. Such heat treatment can be carried out efficiently in a short period of time, using compact treatment facilities, even in small-lot production. The retainer 3 thus formed is sufficiently resistant to wear and surface damage, and is high in fatigue strength and fracture strength as a whole.
