  • Patent number: 5966985
Abstract: An engine starter for starting an engine is provided with an overrunning clutch for transmitting the output torque of a starting motor to the crankshaft of the engine, having an outer ring formed integrally with a rotor holding rotary member having a boss fixedly put on an end portion of a crankshaft included in the engine, and holding a rotor included in a generator, an inner ring formed integrally with a driven member to be driven by the starting motor, and mounted on the end portion of the crankshaft for rotation relative to the crankshaft, and a clutch element interposed between the outer and the inner ring to transmit torque from the inner ring to the outer ring. A drive gear for driving an engine accessory is formed integrally with the rotor holding plate.

  • Patent number: 5398646
Abstract: An exhaust port is formed in the wall of a cylinder of a 2-cycle engine. At least one of the portions of the cylinder wall which define two vertically opposing edges of the exhaust port is projected at the circumferentially mid portion towards the opposing edge so as to provide a piston guide surface which conforms with the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder and which extends in such a manner as to reduce the axial height of the exhaust port. The piston guide surface serves to suppress vibration and noise caused when an upwardly moving piston falls into the exhaust port.

  • Patent number: 5274519
Abstract: A magnetic recording apparatus includes an arm, an airvane, a regulating member, and an urging member. The arm has a head slider including a magnetic head at a free end thereof, and is moved by an actuator device between a scan position and a stop position. The arm scans a surface of a disk for reading and/or writing information thereon at the scan position. The head slider is elastically supported on the arm by a flexure. The airvane is disposed adjacent to the disk, and is urged to a first position in opposition to a direction of air flow generated by rotation of the disk. The airvane moves in response to air flow generated by rotation of the disk to a second position in the direction of the air flow. The regulating member is provided at a position corresponding to the stop position of the arm and connected with the airvane.
