Patent number: 7771854Abstract: When an ignition switch is turned off, a hydrogen supply valve is closed. Operation of a compressor continues, and an air supply valve and an air discharge valve are opened to supply the compressed air into a fuel cell through a hydrogen supply port. The scavenging process of removing the fuel gas and the water remaining in the fuel gas channel is performed through the air discharge valve, a drain valve, and a hydrogen purge valve. Then, all the valves connected to the fuel gas channel are closed. The pressure when the valves are closed, and the pressure when a short time has elapsed after closing the valves are detected by a pressure sensor. Based on the pressure difference, a failure due to the leakage in the fuel gas channel is detected.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2005Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yasunori Kotani, Shinji Yoshikawa, Akio Yamamoto, Tomoki Kobayashi

Patent number: 7695837Abstract: A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell having a fuel gas flow path and an oxidant gas flow path; a compressor for supplying humidified air to the oxidant gas flow path; a back-pressure regulating valve for controlling pressure of humidified air in the oxidant gas flow path; a pressure sensor for measuring the pressure of the humidified air in the oxidant gas flow path; and a control section for controlling the compressor and the back-pressure regulating valve. In this system, the pressure of humidified air in the oxidant gas flow path is regulated to become equal or approximate to a target pressure by the back-pressure regulating valve. When the pressure difference between the pressure measured by the pressure sensor and the target pressure is larger than a predetermined pressure difference, the control section corrects operating conditions of the compressor, so that the measured pressure becomes the target pressure.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2005Date of Patent: April 13, 2010Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Daishi Igarashi, Kenichiro Ueda, Junji Uehara, Koichiro Miyata, Shinji Yoshikawa

Patent number: 7315771Abstract: The present invention intends to provide a control device for a fuel cell vehicle which suppresses the deterioration of driveability upon acceleration without increasing the size of a driving electric motor or a motor driver. When a requested output (PD_CAL) exceeds a first output limit determined depending on a continuous output rating of an electric motor 10 or a motor driver 5 and an increasing rate of the requested output (PD_CAL) exceeds a reference increasing rate, an upper-limit target output determining unit 52 determines an assist time used as a time during which the electric motor 10 can be operated continuously by the requested output (PD_CAL) on the basis of the requested output (PD_CAL) and an open-circuit voltage (Vbat_o) of a battery 3. Until the assist time is elapsed, the upper-limit target output (PD_LMT) is set to a second output limit (>the first output limit) determined depending on a short-time output rating of the electric motor 10 or the motor driver 5.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2006Date of Patent: January 1, 2008Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Asao Uenodai, Hiroshi Yoshikawa, legal representative, Kenichiro Kimura, Shinji Yoshikawa, deceased
