  • Patent number: 6019884
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of correcting warpage of a steel strip caused by a current-carrying roll and an opposite backup roll, which hold the steel strip therebetween, in a horizontal electroplating line, wherein the opposite backup roll is formed to be smaller than the current-carrying roll, and the backup roll is offset relatively to the opposite current-carrying roll in the movement direction of the steel strip by a constant value predetermined according to operation conditions. The offset amount is preferably within the range of 5 to 35 mm.

  • Patent number: 4885071
Abstract: An electrolytic treatment apparatus has a seal structure for establishing liquid-tight seal at an end of electolyte path. The seal structure comprises a seal roll resiliently biased toward a rotary drum periphery and thus establishing sealing contact with a surface of the metal strip. The seal roll may be cooperative with an elastically deformable sealing member for establishing complete liquid-tight seal.

  • Patent number: 4806223
Abstract: In an electrolytic processing cell like an electroplating cell comprising a cell body and an electrode, the cell body is formed with an opening, the electrode is removably mounted in the opening by means of a hydraulic jack, and an inflatable sealing member is disposed between the opening and the electrode for releasably providing a seal therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4784740
Abstract: In a radial plating cell comprising a winding roll for winding thereon a metal strip, an arch-shaped anode spaced at a predetermined distance from the winding roll, and a pair of edge masks interposed between the winding roll and the anode in register with the edges of the metal strip, a mechanism for moving the edge mask is comprised of a drive screw and a travelling nut engaged thereon and received in a channel which is formed in the anode surface and extends in the transverse direction of the metal strip, whereby the edge mask secured to the nut is moved along the drive screw with rotation of the drive screw.

  • Patent number: 4632744
Abstract: An electrolytic processing device has an electrolytic tank which comprises separably coupled upper and lower units. The upper and lower units can be coupled to each other to form a single electrolytic tank when electrolytic processing is to be performed. On the other hand, the upper and lower units can be replaced with other units independently. This allows the electrolytic solution in the lower unit to be changed simply by replacing the lower unit with another unit with a different electrolytic solution, without the need for draining and washing the lower unit used previously.

  • Patent number: 4495009
Abstract: A method of cooling band or hoop steels with hollow cooling rolls through which a cooling medium flows to absorb the heat of the steel strips trained about and in contact with the hollow cooling rolls, thereby cooling the steel strips. According to the invention this method is carried out so as to fulfil the following equation (1) with the cooling roll having a diameter D>600 mm when a thickness h of the steel strip is within 0.2.ltoreq.h<0.6 mm,.DELTA.T.sub.S <0.65.multidot..sigma..sub.T.sup.1.5 .multidot..theta..multidot.h.sup.-0.75 (1)and so as to fulfil the following equation (2) with the cooling roll having a diameter D>1,000 mm when a thickness h of the steel strip is within 0.6 mm.ltoreq.h,.DELTA.T.sub.S <1.05.multidot..sigma..sub.T.sup.1.5 .multidot..theta..multidot.h.sup.-0.83 (2)where .DELTA.T.sub.S is temperature fall .degree.C. per one cooling roll, .sigma..sub.T is tensile stress in a lengthwise direction of the steel strip and .theta. is winding angle about the cooling roll.
