  • Patent number: 8633356
Abstract: It is an objective to provide a method for controlling root parasitic plants. The present invention is directed to a method for protecting plants from root parasitic plants comprising regulating the activity of a protein associated with the strigolactone biosynthetic pathway (including the strigolactone biosynthetic and signalling pathway) in plants or expression of a gene encoding such a protein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 2009
Date of Patent: January 21, 2014
    Assignee: Riken
Inventors: Shinjiro Yamaguchi, Mikihisa Umehara, Atsushi Hanada, Satoko Yoshida, Ken Shirasu

  • Publication number: 20080271205
Abstract: To identify the steviol synthetase gene for research and development of metabolic engineering, for example, for increasing a stevioside producing ability. It was successfully found that CYP714A2 derived from Arabidopsis thaliana is surprisingly steviol synthetase. Furthermore, a system in which a large amount of steviol can be biosynthesized was developed by overexpressing this steviol synthetase gene. The steviol synthetase gene is, for example, a polynucleotide encoding a protein which includes the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2.

  • Patent number: 6020176
Abstract: A polypeptide characterized by amino acid Nos. 1-789 of the amino acid sequence defined by SEQ ID NO:1 of the sequence listing or a polypeptide having the said amino acid sequence incorporated by insertion, deletion, or substitution of one or more amino acid residues. The peptides have catalytic activities of converting copalyl pyrophosphate to ent-kaurene and are useful for the regulation of plant growth. Also provided are DNAs encoding the polypeptides.

  • Patent number: 4352387
Abstract: A process for producing a hollow cast product in which a hollow flexible mandrel is placed into the crucible of a mold with one end of the mandrel extending out of the mold, molten metal is introduced into the mold crucible and left to solidify in the crucible and the mandrel is removed from the mold to thereby form a hollow cast product having a bore which has the smooth or concavo-convex peripheral surface and is straight, bent or meandering.
