  • Patent number: 7800790
Abstract: A document reading unit has an image sensor mounted in a box-like support base so that a document can be read by the image sensor through an opening in the support base. A contact glass disposed in the opening covers the image sensor and supports the document while it is being read by the image sensor. Support members coupled to the contact glass are detachably fixed to the support base by fixing screws. The image sensor has two rows of spaced-apart line sensors with the line sensors in one row staggered relative to those in the other row, and the support members are arranged between adjacent pairs of line sensors in each row of line sensors. The contact glass and support members are removable as a unit from the support base.

  • Patent number: 7595913
Abstract: An original reading unit has first and second arrays of sensor assemblies extending in a main scanning direction for performing readings of an original document. Each of the sensor assemblies includes a sensor holder that undergoes pivotal movement about a single rotation center as a fulcrum along a wall of a unit base to bring the sensor holder to a predetermined position whereat the sensor holder can be fixed to the units base wall. A line sensor is mounted relative to the sensor holder so as not to be shifted in the main scanning direction or in a sub-scanning direction, and to undergo movement in an approaching or a separating direction so as to be brought into contact with or separated from, respectively, the unit base wall and an original support plate attached to the unit base. A focus setup unit moves the line sensor in the approaching or separating direction and positions the line sensor at a location whereat focus can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 7168351
Abstract: A process for generating a curved surface on a workpiece with high speed is disclosed, in which an acceleration of a slider is set to a predetermined desired acceleration while a rotating velocity of a work spindle is made varied to keep the acceleration of the slider as constant as possible. Rotation of the work spindle and movement of an X-axis table are made synchronized with the movement of the slider having the desired acceleration to generate a preselected desired curve on a surface of the workpiece, which lies in perpendicular to a Y-axis along which a cutting tool moves in and out, thereby shortening the cycle time it takes for the curve generation on the workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20060193014
Abstract: The objective of the present invention is the easy removal, from an opening in a support base, of a document support plate. A document reading unit according to this invention includes an image sensor, for reading a document; a support base having a box-like shape, for internally accommodating and supporting the image sensor, and an opening through which the image sensor faces a document; a contact glass that is located at the opening, for covering the image sensor and supporting a document that is being conveyed to the image sensor; glass support members linked with the contact glass and arranged on the support base, for supporting the contact glass; and fixing screws, for detachably fixing the glass support members to the support base.

  • Publication number: 20060186365
Abstract: An electromagnetic drive device has yokes that are magnetically connected with each other and cover an outer periphery of a coil. The coil is wound around a spool. Terminals are guided by a guiding portion of the spool and are fit to the spool. Ends of the coil are electrically connected with ends of the terminals. Protrusions are formed on both circumferential side faces of the spool. The ends of the terminals are bent toward the circumferential ends of the yoke until the ends are locked by tapered faces formed on the protrusions. Accordingly, work for bending electric connections between the coil and the terminals is facilitated, and an insulation failure between the terminals or the coil and the yoke can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20060087704
Abstract: According to the present invention, between a unit base and a transparent original support plate, multiple sensor assemblies are arranged, to form a zigzag pattern, as a first array for reading an original and a second array for reading the original following the first array. Each of the sensor assemblies includes a sensor holder, a line sensor and a focus setup unit. Each of the sensor holders, which serve as fulcrums, are rotatable at a single pivot (a rotation center), along the wall of a unit base that is parallel to the original support plate. When the sensor holders are rotated and positioned at predetermined locations, they are fixed to the wall. The line sensors 51 are held, relative to the sensor holders, in the main scanning direction and in the sub-scanning direction, and are moved in an approaching or separating direction in which the line sensors approach or are separated from the wall and the original support plate.
