The purpose of this invention is to provide an apparatus for forming a food material, such as an apparatus for encrusting a filling material, whose production cost is considerably reduced by employing the following constitution for the apparatus. Namely, mechanisms that can control the opening and closing movements of a cutting apparatus and the lifting and lowering movements of the cutting apparatus and the food-receiving member by only one driving motor are employed for the apparatus. Further, a simplified control system is employed for the apparatus.
