  • Patent number: 8876658
Abstract: In an electrically driven vehicle propelled by an electric machine (motor)equipped with a collaborative braking system of regenerative and frictional braking capacities, in order to achieve the “rollback prevention” at starting on an sloping road, when the regenerative braking is not available due to charging restriction to battery, frictional braking is used instead of regenerative braking and wheels are (automatically, i.e. not manually by driver) braked with friction to prevent the rollback. Moreover, in addition to braking wheels by frictional braking, further control is performed to adjust and match the magnitude of frictional braking force to a braking force in accordance with the starting operation. Thus, at the time of rollback prevention by the frictional braking as well, the similar prevention of rollback will be possible as the prevention by way of regenerative braking such that the effect of rollback prevention may be achieved without a feel of discomfort.

  • Patent number: 7292042
Abstract: A ground fault detector and detection method for a vehicle that can determine the cause of the occurrence of a ground fault after detecting the presence of the ground fault. The output terminal of a high-voltage battery is connected to one side of a coupling capacitor. In operation, a pulse signal is applied to a measurement point on the other side of the coupling capacitor, and the voltage generated at that point is detected. Whether the high-voltage battery or the electrical equipment units are grounded is determined. To determine the cause of the ground fault, the oscillation frequency of the square-wave pulse signal is changed and applied to the measurement point. From the change in voltage amplitude detected, it is determined whether the cause of the ground fault is a resistive or a capacitive ground fault, according to the change in the impedance of the battery or the units.

  • Patent number: 6016792
Abstract: In a leak test system for a vaporized fuel treatment device of a vehicle using negative pressure, a pressure variation rate in a test flowpath is measured in a predetermined time interval, and a reference value which is larger than the minimum variation rate measured is set in a predetermined time interval. Sloshing in a fuel tank is determined by comparing a latest variation rate with the reference value on each occasion. In this way, sloshing can be detected with high precision at any stage of leak testing, and the leak test is stopped when sloshing is detected.

  • Patent number: 5542397
Abstract: A first passage provided with a first valve for guiding vaporized fuel from a fuel tank into a canister, and a second passage provided with a second valve connecting this canister with an intake pipe downstream or a throttle, are provided. A pressure detecting mechanism is provided between this first valve and second valve, and a third valve is provided for leading fresh air into the canister. When the engine running condition satisfies a predetermined positive pressure test condition, the second and third valves are closed and the first valve is opened. In this state, the presence or absence of a leak is determined from the pressure detected by the pressure detecting mechanism. In other words, it is determined for example that the fuel tank has no leak if the pressure rises above a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5220828
Abstract: An apparatus for use with an internal combustion engine having first and second throttle valves located in series within an engine induction passage. The apparatus comprises a first sensor associated with the first throttle valve for deriving a first sensor signal indicative of a first throttle valve position and a second sensor associated with the second throttle valve for deriving a second sensor signal indicative of a second throttle valve position. The first and second minimum values of the first and second sensors are detected. The detected first and second minimum values correspond to minimum positions of the first and second throttle valves, respectively. A difference between the first and second minimum values is calculated and one of the first and second sensor signals is corrected in a direction zeroing the calculated difference.
