Abstract: This invention relates to a highly precise and efficient color filter producing apparatus, which is provided with at least a set of drawing heads for respectively generating ink jets of red, green and blue colors, movement means for moving, with a substrate on which a color filter is to be formed by drawing with said ink jets, in a plane having a predetermined distance from the drawing heads, displacement detection means for detecting relative displacement between the substrate and the drawing heads in directions of six freedoms, means for detecting the reaching position on the substrate of the ink jet discharged from the drawing head, and alignment means for effecting alignment between the substrate and the drawing heads in directions of six freedoms, based on the results of detection of the reaching position and of the relative displacement between the substrate and the drawing head in directions of six freedoms.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a color filter manufacturing method in which an abnormality in a head is quickly detected to reduce the quantity of defective products. In order to achieve this object, there is provided a color filter manufacturing method of coloring each pixel of a color filter by discharging an ink onto a substrate using an ink-jet head, thereby manufacturing a color filter, including performing detection of a discharge failure in the ink-jet head before coloring of at least a first pixel in an effective pixel portion serving as a color filter.

Abstract: A print evaluating apparatus includes an image reader having a plurality of photoreceptors to read a print pattern line by line; a relative movement causing device for imparting relative movement between the print pattern and the image reader in a direction different from a direction in which the photoreceptors are arranged; and a processor for effecting plural operations in parallel for plural evaluation items for image signals corresponding to the print pattern supplied by the image reader during the relative movement, and for effecting evaluation on data provided by the operations.
