  • Patent number: 4226822
Abstract: A biaxially stretched five-layer film suitable for packaging fatty foodstuffs of irregular shape is disclosed, which has a first (outermost) layer made of an ionomer, an olefin homopolymer, an olefin copolymer or a mixture of the olefin homopolymer with the olefin copolymer, a second layer of an ethylene copolymer, a third layer of a vinylidene copolymer, a fourth layer of an ethylene copolymer and a fifth (innermost) layer of an ionomer. This film is obtained by preparing a laminate consisting of the layers of respective resins mentioned above by means of a specific die designed for multi-layer tubular molding and biaxially stretching the laminate under specific conditions.

  • Patent number: 4134952
Abstract: Molten first and second resins are directed to flow in a two-layer and confluent state along a tubular passage formed between a torpedo and a die structure from the nose tip of the torpedo and then along a divergently expanding path along the conical nose of the torpedo respectively as the outer and inner layers, which are thus rendered into uniform thin layers and then extruded from the die as a two-layer laminated tubular structure. A third molten resin may be similarly rendered into a thin tubular layer by forcing it to flow through another tubular passage formed between another torpedo and the inner wall surface formed by a cavity within the first torpedo and directing this third resin to confluently join the layers of the first and second molten resins on the inner side thereof thereby to produce a three-layer laminated tubular structure.

  • Patent number: 4049859
Abstract: Metallized plastic films having deposited metal layers on both surfaces and being adapted for use as dielectric films, piezoelectric films or pyroelectric films are disclosed. At least a portion of the metal layer deposited on one surface of the film has a relatively increased thickness of 700 A or more and at least a portion of the metal layer deposited on the other surface has a relatively reduced thickness of 600 A or less. The increased thickness and reduced thickness portions are positioned opposite to one another. The thin layer permits rapid self recovery of localized dielectric breakdown, while the relatively thick layer provides better utility for the electric uses to which the film is put.

  • Patent number: 4047998
Abstract: A method is disclosed for polarizing a thermoplastic resin film having a continuous metal electrode on one surface and a plurality of discrete electrodes on the other surface. An additional thermoplastic resin film coated on one surface with an evaporated metal coating is placed on the first thermoplastic resin film such that the evaporated metal coating comes into contact with the discrete electrodes. A polarizing d.c. voltage is applied between the continuous metal electrode and the evaporated metal coating.

  • Patent number: 4011874
Abstract: A melt-molded polyvinylidene fluoride or polymonochlorotrifluoroethylene sheet having a thickness of about 20 .mu. to 2 mm and a spherulite size of less than about 10 .mu., whereby the sheet transmits more than about 40% of the dorno rays in a wavelength region of about 2,800 to 3,300 A, and a sun room using as a light admitting plate a sheet or plate of the polyvinylidene fluoride or the polymonochlorotrifluoroethylene permitting transmission of the physiologically active rays in sunlight.

  • Patent number: 3997642
Abstract: A blow molding method for transferring and heating deformed and one-sided wall-thickness parisons in which each heated parison is expanded in conformity with the mold after being stretched or just after being heated, with the use of a conveying device provided with a number of upright pins inserted into the parisons and adapted for continuous travel within a furnace while being rotated, the inner section of each parison being irregular and/or having a varying circumferential wall-thickness the upright pins having a section, which fits an inner section of the parison, formed at the lower part thereof and including a planar portion placed into sliding contact with a guide rail provided at an outlet of the furnace in order to relatively position the parison.

  • Patent number: 3943614
Abstract: A method of polarizing high molecular weight films comprising polarizing elongated strips of polar high molecular weight film upon which conductive thin films as opposing electrodes are deposited on both surfaces thereof the strips being assembled in an even number of layers and wound around a core into a roll shape. An embodiment includes inserting electrically insulating spacer layers between each layer or each unit of an even number of layers to prevent discharge effects.
