  • Patent number: 6298325
Abstract: A speech recognition system recognizes voices from sequence data which is expected to be input in a regular, predetermined order. The speech recognition system includes a unit generating a recognition reference word by adding items of dummy data to each item of the sequence data, and a unit recognizing and outputting from among a set of recognition reference words that recognition reference word which is the most similar to an externally input voice. The recognition reference word is output as a recognized result on the basis of a feature of the input voice. Moreover, the dummy data are neighboring data which lie in a neighborhood of all items of the sequence data, thus forming the set of recognition reference words available for speech recognition.

  • Patent number: 5717820
Abstract: A speech recognition method and apparatus enable the use of the same recognition software for speaker dependent recognition under various running environments such as different computers. The speech recognition method operates in the form of computer software to detect at least one running environment of hardware. The hardware running environment may include processing speed of a computer. Recognition parameters are then determined which correspond to the detected running environment. Next, the speech recognition method converts an input analog speech signal into a digital speech signal. The digital speech signal, in the form of extracted feature data, is then compared with digital feature data in a dictionary. The speech is then recognized in response to a match of the data.

  • Patent number: 5329609
Abstract: A dictionary order sorter resorts character strings of recognition candidates stored in a high-ranking candidate memory in the order of distance into a dictionary order (character code order). Upon receipt of a sort termination signal a display controller displays the character strings of recognition candidates stored in the high-ranking candidate memory in the dictionary order and their ranking numbers in order on a display. Where an attribute-dependent sorter is provided in place of the dictionary order sorter, the character strings of recognition candidates stored in the distance order in the high-ranking candidate memory are sorted (grouped) according to attribute information of categories, such as parts of speech, concepts, etc., which are stored in a template memory for each of the recognition candidates and then displayed classified into groups. The categories of attribute information can arbitrarily be specified by the user.

  • Patent number: 5257314
Abstract: A voice recognition system includes a microphone for converting a voice to an electrical voice signal including voice and non-voice sound portions. An acoustic processing unit detects power and spectrum of the electrical voice signal, and outputs power time-series data and spectrum time series data. A voice section detection unit uses the power time-series data to detect a start point and an end point of the voice sound portion, and outputs an end decision signal indicative of such end point. A word dictionary stores word labels ordered in accordance with frequency of use, as well as word numbers and word templates. A recognition unit receives the feature time-series data and calculates a degree of similarity between the voice and the word templates. A sorting unit sorts data calculated in the recognition unit in accordance with the degree of similarity.

  • Patent number: 5239618
Abstract: An output layer in a layered neural network uses a linear function or a designated region (linear region) of a threshold function instead of the threshold function to convert an input signal to an analog output signal When the basic unit uses the linear function, a limiter for limiting the output to a region between 1.0 and 0. When the basic unit uses the designated linear region of the threshold function, a limiter limits the output to a region between 0.8 and 0.2. Upon a learning operation, the error propagation coefficient is determined as a constant value such as 1/6 and when the majority of the desired values are 1 or near 1, an error value regarding the opposite desired value 0 is amplified, and when the output values become equal to or more than 1, it is deemed that there is no error with regard to the output of more than 1 in case of many outputs 1, thereby speeding up an operation of updating the weight.
