    Abstract: In a sample cell that is sealed with an X-ray transmission sheet after a sample such as a liquid fuel or the like is contained therein, when an internal pressure is increased, a cup end surface is deformed so as to increase an internal capacity of the sample cell before the X-ray transmission sheet serving as a window part is expanded. The cup end surface is formed by folding a film-like material and, when the internal pressure of the sample cell is increased, the cup end surface is unfolded outwardly of the sample cell to increase the internal capacity of the sample cell. The increase in pressure is relieved by the increase in capacity, and the expansion of the X-ray transmission sheet is thereby prevented.

    Abstract: An X-ray convergence element and an X-ray irradiation device including the X-ray convergence element are provided. The X-ray convergence element can extend a working distance from an exit-side opening end thereof to a specimen, and can perform analysis of the specimen with rough surface, a fluorescent X-ray analysis, and a X-ray diffraction analysis, regardless of a size of the specimen. An X-ray blocking member 23 is provided with three supporting members 233 for supporting the X-ray blocking member 23, which extend from an annular member 232 having approximately the same diameter as a diameter of an entrance-side opening end (outer diameter of a capillary 20) toward the center of the X-ray blocking member 23 to fix the annular member 232 to the capillary 20. The annular member 232, the supporting members 233, and the X-ray blocking member 23 are integrally formed of a metal that shields X-rays, such as tantalum, tungsten, or molybdenum.

    Abstract: A soil for metal analysis having a high water content of 40% or more is dried up to 20% or less in water content within a short period of time. A filter paper 5 is laid over an inner bottom surface plate 2 of a nutsche 1. Powder of a super absorbent polymer 6 is uniformly spread (filled) on an upper surface thereof. Further, another filter paper 7 is laid thereon. A soil sample with a high water content is packed on an upper surface thereof, thereupon carrying out predrying to approximately 30% in water content. After that, the predried soil sample is added with ethanol, stirred and received in a receiving pan 38. The receiving pan 38 is arranged in a drying chamber 37. Water is supplied by a syringe 43 to a reaction vessel 42 having been filled with calcium oxide or barium oxide, thereby reacting calcium oxide or barium oxide with water. The receiving pan 38 is heated by a reaction heat generated at that moment, thereupon carrying out postdrying to make the water content 20% or less.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the concentration of an element in a sample with a fluorescent X-ray qualitative analytical procedure is provided. An X-ray tube radiates a sample with primary X-rays to create fluorescent X-rays from elements in the sample. The computer system can have preset conditions for a measurement of a predetermined concentration amount of an element at a predetermined probability of accuracy. The X-rays coming from the sample are detected, and calculations are performed to determine both the concentration of the element and the predetermined probability of accuracy. These values can be compared automatically with the predetermined values and, when the comparison indicates that the calculated concentration of the element meets the predetermined amount or is greater within the predetermined probability of accuracy, the measurement cycle can be stopped, thereby avoiding unnecessary measurement time.
