  • Patent number: 6119611
Abstract: A flash memory provided inside of a sewing machine stores display data in English only, a first language such as the language relating to operations for sewing and pattern selection and appearing on a display on the sewing machine. When a floppy disk exclusively for language changing, which stores display data developed for a plurality of other languages, such as Japanese, German, and French, is inserted into a floppy disk drive, and a language key, such as the Japanese language key, is pressed, the display data in Japanese only is read from the floppy disk, information currently stored in the flash memory is deleted, and then the read display data in Japanese is written into the flash memory. Therefore, according to the invention, the flash memory has a capacity enough to store display data for only one language, and can rewrite the language data of the display data to a desired language, which permits miniaturization of the flash memory and cost reduction.

  • Patent number: 5988083
Abstract: When a power source of an electronic control type embroidery machine is switched on, all pattern data of a plurality of embroidery patterns stored on a ROM card is summarily written to either a pattern data memory of RAM (volatile memory) or a flash memory (involatile memory) without any instruction for storing the data. As a result, the ROM card can be detached during the embroidery sewing operation, embroidery sewing of the plurality of embroidery patterns is simplified and operational performance of the sewing operation can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5983816
Abstract: In an embroidery data processing device, when a user selects one of embroidery patterns displayed on a pattern selecting screen of an LCD, a control device reads embroidery data of the selected embroidery pattern from a ROM or external ROM card. The control device compares size data in the embroidery data with size data of a sewing area. When the size data in the embroidery data is larger than the size data of the sewing area, a predetermined computing or operation is executed to convert the sewing data. As a result, the embroidery pattern formed on a workpiece cloth on the basis of the converted sewing data falls within the sewing area.

  • Patent number: 5924373
Abstract: An electronically controlled embroidery sewing machine has a liquid crystal display and a control unit having a ROM. The ROM stores display data for displaying ten numeric keys representing numbers of 0-9. The display is provided with a touch panel having several touch keys. The numeric keys corresponding to the touch keys are displayed in a numeric key display area of the display. For selection of a desired embroidery pattern, a number corresponding to the desired pattern is selected by pressing the touch keys, and the selected number is displayed in a number display area of the display in half-size and in reversed contrast, followed by the desired pattern. Thus, a selecting operation of the desired embroidery pattern is simplified, and need for extra numeric buttons or an extra space for the numeric buttons is eliminated, resulting in reduction in the size and cost of the display as well as the sewing machine.

  • Patent number: 5826526
Abstract: A sewing machine includes a feed dog disposed in a bed of a main body to be displaced between positions above and below a top face of the bed in a normal state to feed a workpiece cloth, and a control device. When a presser foot is vertically moved during sewing, the control device judges that the feed dog is in the drop feed state. The vertical movement of the presser foot is detected on the basis of an output of a cloth thickness sensor which detects the height of the presser foot. When the feed dog is in the drop feed state, the control device judges whether a stitch pattern selected by a user is suitable for formation of stitches in the drop feed state of the feed dog. When the stitch pattern is unsuitable, information to that effect is provided, and the sewing is stopped.
