  • Patent number: 10824039
Abstract: [Object] Reduction of the influence of liquid crystal inversion can be achieved without increasing a driving frequency of a liquid crystal light control element. [Solution] a liquid crystal light control element having a plurality of liquid crystal layers sandwiched between two electrodes serving as electrodes at both ends and arranged side by side in a direction of an optical axis of transmitted light is driven. In this case, a driving signal inverted at predetermined intervals is applied to the electrodes at both ends of each of the liquid crystal layers. By setting the driving signals of the plurality of systems as signals shifted from an in-phase or reversed-phase relationship, so the inversion timing of each liquid crystal layer is made not to coincide.

  • Publication number: 20200236255
Abstract: A liquid crystal light control device is to be used appropriately, regardless of interchanges of lenses. To achieve this, an imaging apparatus includes: a mount portion on which an interchangeable lens is mounted; a liquid crystal light control device that performs light control on incident light entering via a lens system in the interchangeable lens when the interchangeable lens is mounted on the mount portion; and an imaging device that generates a captured image signal by photoelectrically converting the incident light via the liquid crystal light control device. The mount portion, the liquid crystal light control device, and the imaging device are arranged in this order from the object side in the optical axis direction of the incident light. The liquid crystal light control device can be made to function, regardless of the types of lenses to be interchanged.

  • Patent number: 6801286
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of a multi-domain vertical-alignment mode includes a driving substrate having a pixel electrode, a counter substrate opposing the driving substrate and having a counter electrode, and a liquid crystal sandwiched between the substrates. In the liquid crystal display device, molecules of the liquid crystal are aligned nearly perpendicularly to the substrates when no electric field is produced, and are aligned nearly horizontally by the application of a predetermined voltage. The counter substrate has an alignment center portion for orienting the molecules of the liquid crystal in all directions centered on a certain point when the voltage is applied. The area of the alignment center portion of the counter substrate is set to be less than or equal to 5% of the area of one pixel.

  • Publication number: 20030117354
Abstract: A power generator circuit, generation method, and liquid crystal display (LCD) wherein the power generator circuit does not require the design of a set when a negative or positive power generator circuit is installed outside the LCD panel. In a liquid crystal display integrated-with-drive circuit, a positive or negative power generator circuit is incorporated into the LCD panel and supplies a positive or negative voltage to a vertical driver circuit.

  • Patent number: 6259200
Abstract: An active-matrix display apparatus includes a pair of transparent top and bottom insulating substrates mutually attached with a predetermined gap left therebetween, and an electro-optical material such as a liquid crystal held in the gap. The bottom insulating substrate has opaque signal lines and gate lines that intersect the signal lines, a bottom-gate type thin-film transistor arranged at each intersection, and a transparent pixel electrode arranged in an aperture surrounded by the signal lines and the gate lines and connected to the corresponding thin-film transistor. The top insulating substrate is provided with an opposing electrode and a shading black mask aligned with at least the gate line. It is noted that the bottom insulating substrate is provided with a light-shielding film.
