  • Patent number: 7058228
Abstract: Image data compression method and apparatus which improves image quality in a scene where image greatly changes and reduces the image data, and image transmission system and monitoring system using the method and apparatus. The image data compression apparatus which compresses input image data and outputs compressed image data comprises a detection unit which detects a motion or change of each scene, a determination unit which determines the detected motion amount or change amount, a switch circuit which controls a frame rate in accordance with the results of determination, and a compression encoding unit which compression-encodes the image data. The apparatus performs control such that an image having small motion amount and small change amount with respect to a predetermined image is not compression-encoded, so that the frame rate in a scene where the motion or change is large is higher than that in a scene where the motion and change are small.

  • Publication number: 20040226992
Abstract: A user 106 who attempts to use a card 101 inputs a personal identification number, and first permission/rejection judgment is carried out using the number. If the result of the first permission/rejection judgment is affirmative, a card-ready terminal 102 transmits some information to a card authenticating host 104. The transmitted information includes acquired user image data obtained by acquiring the image of the user 106 and the details of the transaction inputted by the user. The host 104 transmits specific data containing the acquired user image data and the details of the transaction to a predetermined terminal 105. Then, the host 104 waits for the input of approval/rejection information on whether to approve the transaction from the terminal 105. On receipt of approval/rejection information from the terminal 105, the host 104 carries out second permission/rejection judgment based on the contents of the approval/rejection information.

  • Publication number: 20040105019
Abstract: A camera equipment includes a first coder for compression-coding a picked-up image for transmission to a network and a second coder for compression-coding the image to store it in a recorder. Even when data cannot be transmitted due to the conditions of a transmission path, the compressed image data can be acquired without fail. The compressed image data before and after an abnormality can be recorded and transmitted in high image quality, and a compression scheme suitable for the expansion decoding scheme at the transmission destination can be selected. The image data generated in a camera unit is compression-coded in according to the expansion decoding scheme at the transmission destination, and transmitted to a network. The same image data thus generated is compression-coded by the second coder using a compression coding scheme in a more finely detailed fashion than that by the first coder.

  • Publication number: 20040105450
Abstract: An image captured by a camera can be sent to and stored in a controller on a LAN as well as to a high-capacity camera with more memory than other camera devices on the LAN and to a camera on another LAN. This allows captured images to be recorded without losing the images even if an irregular event is detected and an irregularity takes place in the camera device at the site.

  • Publication number: 20040100562
Abstract: Disclosed is a transmitting device which is capable of transmitting data even if a communication line is disconnected while the data is being transmitted, wherein the device is provided with a plurality of communication interfaces 109 to 112 connectable to a plurality of respective communication lines and transmits data through the communication interfaces. If a communication line is disconnected while data is being transmitted, the transmitting device selects an appropriate communication line based on predetermined criteria for communication line connection, drives a communication interface corresponding to the communication line to connect to the communication line, and transmits the data.

  • Patent number: 6608938
Abstract: An image data expansion apparatus including a decoder for decoding compressed image data at a frame rate controlled to be lower in a scene where the change is small than that in a scene where the change is large; an expander for expanding the compressed image data decoded by the decoder, the input image data being reproduced such that the frame rate is lower in a scene where the change between images is small than the frame rate in a scene where the change between images is large; and an image interpolator for generating an interpolation image from the input predetermined compressed image data in accordance with the information on the frame rate outputted with the compression image data. The reproduced input image data is interpolated with an interpolation image generated by interpolation processing by the image interpolator, and the interpolated image data is outputted.

  • Patent number: 5805678
Abstract: A facsimile system with the body thereof usable as a subunit of a cordless telephone is disclosed. A parent unit is connected to the telephone line. A facsimile subunit is connected by radio to the parent unit. A telephone subunit is also connected by radio to the parent unit. A circuit included in the parent unit detects a signal indicating that the other party is in facsimile transmission mode. When a call signal is detected from the telephone line, the parent unit connects the line. When a CNG signal is detected, on the other hand, the parent unit connects the facsimile subunit by radio. In the case where a CNG signal is not detected, the parent unit starts the ring-up tone on the telephone subunit. An AGC circuit and a voice mute circuit are included in the parent unit.
