  • Patent number: 5526950
Abstract: An etching process is disclosed which is suited for manufacturing color selecting mechanisms in wide scope of specifications without need of complicated process of manufacture. The etching process comprises the steps of (a) forming an etching resist layer (20) on the front surface (10A) of a work (10) and also forming a protective layer (12) on the back surface (10B), (b) patterning the etching resist layer (12) to form a first opening (22) and a second opening (24) smaller than and near the first opening, and (c) etching the work to form a slit zone (32) under the first opening (22) and a recess (34) under the second opening (24) while removing at least a portion (10C) of the work spacing apart the slit zone (32) and the recess (34), thereby forming an electron beam passage slit (30) having a greater opening area defined on the side of the front surface (10A) by the slit zone (32) and the recess (34). • Patent number: 5362357
Abstract: A color selecting mask such as an aperture grille for use in a color cathode-ray tube a plurality of parallel slots or apertures defined transversely in a thin metal sheet. To manufacture the color selecting mask, a peelable pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet such as an ultraviolet-curing pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet or a heat-foaming pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet is applied to one surface of a thin metal sheet, and the thin metal sheet is selectively etched to form slots or apertures therein.

  • Patent number: 4753375
Abstract: A viscous substance applying apparatus equipped with a nozzle, for use, for example, in applying frit to the sealing part of a funnel in manufacturing a cathode-ray tube. The nozzle is provided with two valve elements disposed in a frit chamber formed in a nozzle body. One of the valve elements, for shutting a frit outlet, is moved inward away from the frit outlet, applying suction to the frit contained in the frit chamber, at the start of the frit applying operation, while the other valve element for shutting a frit inlet is moved outward toward the frit inlet in ending the frit applying operation; consequently, the undesirable drip of the frit at the star and at the end of the frit applying operation is obviated, and hence the frit is applied regularly in a predetermined width to the sealing part of the funnel.

  • Patent number: 4640700
Abstract: A method for attaching a stud pin to a cathode ray tube panel is disclosed, which employs as a frit slurry to attach the stud pin to the cathode ray tube panel, a crystalizing solder glass, a binder and a solvent having a viscosity higher than 10 cps and a boiling point ranging from 200.degree. C. to 320.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4450379
Abstract: A cathode ray tube includes an envelope consisting of a flat panel, a funnel and a neck. The flat panel has a phosphor layer and a conductive layer respectively coated on its inner surface and the funnel is provided with an anode button. An anode contactor is attached to the anode button at its inner end. In this case, the anode contactor consists of a base portion made of a flat plate and extended substantially along the inner surface of the funnel and a leaf contactor integrally extended from the base portion so as to resiliently contact with the conductive layer coated on the inner surface of the flat panel. The base portion of the anode contactor is provided with a projection near a portion from which the leaf contactor is extended, the projection contacting with the inner surface of the funnel, and provided with an insertion aperture at a portion opposite to the portion from which the leaf conductor is extended, the inner end of said anode button engaging with said insertion aperture.

  • Patent number: 4262036
Abstract: A pair of horizontally disposed nozzles above a horizontally disposed seal edge surface for coating a frit slurry in a closed pattern on the surface are moved in opposite directions from an abutting, mutually blocking position until the nozzles again come into sealing abutment at a second point above the surface. During the travel of the nozzles, a frit slurry is discharged therefrom at a constant rate and is deposited in a uniform stripe on the seal edge surface. Just before the nozzles abut at the end of the coating operation, the flow of frit slurry from one of them is terminated. This permits the frit slurry from the second nozzle to make a tapered overlay of the frit slurry from the earlier cut off nozzle without forming a bump or extra width at the joint. A rectangular gear generally conforming to the shape of the seal edge surface to be coated is employed to drive the nozzles at a substantially linear speed along the seal edge surface.

  • Patent number: 4125088
Abstract: A device for coating, with a carbon material, the inner surface of a cathode ray tube having a neck and flared or cone end portion which is opened at its end remote from the neck along a free peripheral edge portion to which the front panel of the completed cathode ray tube is later secured. The device includes a frame on which a turntable is rotatably mounted and supports, for rotation therewith, a seal assembly for selectively forming a seal on the inner surface of the flared portion of the cathode ray tube adjacent the free edge thereof. The tube is supported on the turntable adjacent the seal assembly along its peripheral edge, and the assembly includes an expandable seal strip generally complementary to the internal configuration of the tube along which the seal is to be formed, so that upon expansion of the seal strip a tight seal is formed against the tube.
