  • Patent number: 5219921
Abstract: An electrically insulating paint composition which is curable at low temperatures from about 60.degree. C. to about 100.degree. C., which comprises (A) an alkenyl group-containing, silanol group-free organopolysiloxane which is a copolymer of three kinds of siloxane units represented by the same general formula (R.sup.1).sub.a SiO.sub.(4-a)/2, wherein R.sup.1 represents an unsubstituted or substituted monovalent hydrocarbon residue, and a's in three different units represent 0, 1 and 3 respectively, said copolymer containing at least two alkenyl groups in a molecule; (B) an organopolyhydrogensiloxane which is a homo- or copolymer containing at least one siloxane unit represented by the general formula (R.sup.2).sub.b SiO.sub.(4-b)/2, wherein R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substituted monovalent hydrocarbon residue, and b satisfies a relation 0.ltoreq.b.ltoreq.

  • Patent number: 4943620
Abstract: The invention proposes use of ammonia water in place of a conventional caustic alkali or amine compound as a catalyst in the siloxane rearrangement reaction for the preparation of a silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesive between a poly(diorganosiloxane) having a linear molecular structure and another organopolysiloxane composed mainly of the monofunctional organosiloxane units and tetrafunctional siloxane units. The ammonia water after completion of the reaction can be easily and completely removed by distillation so that the resultant adhesive product is free from any alkaline residue of the catalyst to be imparted with greatly improved stability against viscosity changes and excellent electrical properties along with high reproducibility of the product quality.

  • Patent number: 4141926
Abstract: An improved method for preparing epoxy-modified silicone resins is proposed in which the reaction catalyst is an alkali halide, such as sodium chloride and potassium chloride, or a combination of the alkali halide and an alkyl titanate, such as tetraisopropyl titanate and tetrabutyl titanate. The epoxy-modified silicon resin thus obtained is further reacted with a polybasic carboxylic acid or its anhydride. Varnishes containing these modified silicone resins can give coating films with very strong resistance to chemicals and solvents. Furthermore paints prepared with these varnishes as the vehicle are very stable, and exhibit no thixotropy even after a very long period of storage.

  • Patent number: 4115607
Abstract: Shaped aluminum bars fresh from an extruder machine are coated with a specific organopolysiloxane composition while remaining uncooled and staying at temperatures not lower than about 250.degree. C, or at a temperature between about 550.degree. and 250.degree. C. The thus coated aluminum bars are then, preferably, subjected to annealing. The coatings formed on the surfaces of the aluminum materials have a superior resistance to attack by chemicals, weather, stains and heat as well as excellent adhesion and mechanical properties.

  • Patent number: 4035332
Abstract: The water-soluble, silicone-modified resin compositions comprise (a) an interpolymer with an acid value of 10 to 150 prepared by the reaction of a polyol, a polybasic carboxylic acid or an anhydride thereof and an alkoxy- or hydroxy-containing organosilicon compound, (b) a water-miscible organic solvent and (c) a basic compound in an amount sufficient to decrease the acid value of component (a) to below 5 or preferably to zero. The compositions, when diluted with water as desired, are useful as a water-soluble varnishes or a water-soluble paint vehicles capable of forming coating films with excellent weathering resistance, heat-stability, anti-corrosion, solvent resistance and other properties.

  • Patent number: 3961977
Abstract: A transparent and scratch resistant coating composition is disclosed, together with a process for producing the composition and applying it to molded articles, wherein the composition comprises a partially hydrolyzed carbon-functional silane derived from an aminoalkylalkoxysilane and an epoxyalkylalkoxysilane, and is applied as a coating to the surface of a plastic article which is thereafter heated and dried.
