  • Publication number: 20020134634
Abstract: A power transmission device suited for use in a hybrid car for selective transmission of its engine and motor powers. The power transmission device is used to transmit and cut off driving forces from an internal combustion engine or a motor of a hybrid car, and includes a two-way clutch having engaging elements, and a control means for controlling the locking and freeing of the two-way clutch. The control means includes an electromagnetic clutch having an electromagnet and an armature. By mounting such power transmission devices on the outputs of the engine and the motor, it is possible to easily transmit and cut off driving force by simply turning on and off the electromagnet.

  • Publication number: 20020020596
Abstract: A two-way clutch for allowing limited torque to be transferred until a roller clutch mechanism is forced to an engaged position. The present invention includes a roller clutch, with a torque generating device mounted thereon, including an actuator for producing an axial force onto a clutch pack. A torque transfer device is disposed between the torque generating device and the roller clutch. The torque transfer device is adapted to receive torque from the torque generating device and to transfer torque to the roller clutch. When a predetermined level of torque is produced by the torque generating device, the torque transfer device moves the roller clutch into an engaged position.

  • Patent number: 6123183
Abstract: A rotation transmission device including a clutch having an inner member, an outer ring, and engaging elements provided between the inner member and the outer ring for selective transmission and shutoff of rotation power between the inner member and the outer ring, and an electromagnetic clutch having an electromagnetic coil for locking and disengaging the clutch. When the clutch is not engaged, a current of a lower level than required to lock the clutch is supplied to the electromagnetic coil of the electromagnetic clutch to shorten the response time. In another method, when DIRECT-CONNECT 4WD mode is selected, a current is intermittently supplied to an electromagnetic coil to reduce power consumption and heat buildup.

  • Patent number: 6082480
Abstract: A rotation transmission device is mounted in a drive train of a four-wheel drive vehicle to selectively distribute driving force to selected vehicle wheels according to the travel condition of the vehicle. This device includes an outer ring and an input shaft. A cylindrical face is formed on one of the opposed surfaces of the outer ring and the input shaft, while cam faces are formed on the other opposed surface to define a wedge-shaped space between the cylindrical face and each cam face. Rollers are mounted in pockets formed in a retainer mounted between the input shaft and the outer ring. An electromagnetic clutch is coupled to the retainer. A switch spring is mounted between the retainer and the input shaft. A two-way clutch is provided between the outer ring and the input shaft.

  • Patent number: 6035988
Abstract: A control system for a 4WD vehicle has a rotation transmission device which can prevent a two-way clutch of the rotation transmission device from vibrating by repeatedly locking and unlocking when the vehicle is started in a cold environment. The rotation transmission device is mounted in the transfer. The transfer is provided with a temperature sensor for measuring the temperature of oil in the transfer. If the oil temperature as measured by the temperature sensor is below a predetermined value when the vehicle is started with the drive mode set at the 2WD position, the hub clutches are engaged to reduce the idling speed of the two-way clutch and thus to prevent the two-way clutch from locking.

  • Patent number: 5951428
Abstract: A rotation transmission device mounted on a 4WD car can stop the front drive train during 2WD mode, and also permits smooth changeover from 2WD to 4WD even while the vehicle is moving. The rotation transmission device is mounted in a transfer which transmits the output of the engine transmission to the rear propeller shaft through an input shaft and to the front propeller shaft through a silent chain. The rotation transmission device includes a two-way clutch through which the rotation of the input shaft is selectively transmitted to a chain sprocket, an electromagnetic clutch for selectively locking and unlocking the two-way clutch, and a multiple disk clutch provided between the two-way clutch and the electromagnetic clutch to function as a synchronizer that permits smooth mode change from 2WD to 4WD even while the vehicle is moving.

  • Patent number: 4908255
Abstract: A separate plate for use in a valve body of an automatic transmission has a gasket bonded to each side of the separate plate. The gasket is provided with boxes which are different in configuration from bores provided in the separate plate. Bores are punched out in the separate plate and the gasket coated with an adhesive, separately from each other, and then the separate plate and the gasket are bonded together in one unit. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a separate plate having improved assembling efficiency and superior resistances to heat, oil and rupture.
