  • Patent number: 6208812
Abstract: A camera has a bar code reader for reading a bar code from a roll film loaded therein. Bar code data read from the bar code is checked out whether it has a proper format or not. If the bar code data read from the bar code of the loaded roll film is proper, the bar code data is written in a nonvolatile memory, and the camera is set up in accordance with the bar code data. The bar code data of the nonvolatile memory is renewed each time proper bar code data is obtained. If the bar code data read from the bar code of the loaded roll film is improper, a display device displays film data represented by bar code data having been stored in the nonvolatile memory, along with an error indicia. If the displayed film data is invalid for the loaded roll film, the photographer enters film data of the loaded roll film through manual operation switches. Then, the camera is set up with the manually entered film data. If no film data is manually entered, the camera is set up in accordance with the displayed film data.

  • Patent number: 6064834
Abstract: When a switching lever is positioned for horizontal photographing, an exposure frame composed of two switching frames is switched to a horizontal photographing exposure frame. When the switching lever is positioned for vertical photographing, a wheel ring starts rotating about a photographic optical axis, and the switching frames start moving by the operation of elongated holes. When the switching lever is positioned for vertical photographing, the exposure frame composed of two switching frames is switched to a vertical photographing exposure frame.

  • Patent number: 6026250
Abstract: A camera for use with a Brownie roll film having a bar code containing data about a roll film, such as a film speed and a roll film type. The bar code is printed on an adhesive tape which secures light-shielding paper to a leading end of a photo filmstrip of the roll film. As soon as the roll film is loaded with its leading end of the light-shielding paper secured to a take-up spool of the camera, the camera starts rotating the take-up spool and, simultaneously, a reflective photo sensor starts scanning. Based on output signal from the photo sensor and the transport amount of the filmstrip, a first frame exposure portion of the filmstrip is automatically positioned behind an exposure aperture. The number ofavailable exposures is derived from the roll film type data read from the bar code, and is displayed on an LCD panel. An automatic exposure control is effected while taking the film speed read from the bar code into consideration.

  • Patent number: 5984535
Abstract: The present invention is related to a camera having a film wind spool with an insertion slot for receiving a film leader, a counter roller at a film supply side of the film wind spool, and a film winding device having a plate-shaped guide member between the film wind spool and the counter roller for guiding the film leader from the film supply side to the insertion slot of the film wind spool when the guide member is in a first position. The guide member further includes two end pieces, each of the two end pieces are pivotally connected to a different axial end of the counter roller. A rear cover is provided on the camera that opens to expose the film winding device and has an interior projection. The film winding device further includes a flange protruding from the film winding device in a position corresponding to the interior projection when the rear cover is closed.

  • Patent number: 5603067
Abstract: A camera is of a type using the 120 size of roll film or the 220 size of roll film, which is so arranged that the height of a pressure plate on a back lid is changed over depending upon a type of a used film. A reflection-type photosensor is provided in the camera body, whereby a state of a lock mechanism of the back lid is detected. A second reflective plate is mounted on the pressure plate, and the second reflective plate reflects light from the photosensor when the back lid is in a lock state. A reflecting position where the light from the photosensor impinges is changed between reflective portions depending upon the height of the pressure plate. Since reflectivities of these reflective portions are different from each other, the height of the pressure plate, that is, the type of the used film can be determined by analyzing an output from the photosensor receiving the reflected light from the second reflective plate.

  • Patent number: 5086312
Abstract: A variable focal length camera having at least one auxiliary lens system which is inserted into or withdrawn from the optical axis of a main lens system. A lens holder holding the auxiliary lens system is swingably mounted on a shaft extending in the direction of the optical axis, and moves forward and rearward along the shaft for focus adjustment. In order to cancel the component of a force in the direction of the optical axis exerted by a tool by which a focus adjusting device is operated, the shaft is arranged to be motionless in the direction of the optical axis. According to a preferred embodiment, on the intermediate portion of the shaft, there is formed a thread meshing with a base portion of the lens holder so that the position of the lens holder is adjusted through rotation of the shaft, and after this lens position adjustment the base portion is fixed to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4751546
Abstract: A display device for a camera has a display panel with a digital display unit having seven display segments disposed in a figure-eight shape. The digital display unit displays the number of exposed frames or other exposure information, and in addition, a portion of display segments is utilized for display or for indicating an alarm condition of the camera. In order to clearly recognize the display or alarm of the camera conditions, a character or symbol representative of the display content or alarm content is disposed near a display segment used for both numerical display, and camera condition display or alarm. A display of the film winding state is performed by flashing the laterally elongated display segments positioned between patterns formed sideways of the digital display unit and symbolizing a film supply section and a film winding section.

  • Patent number: 4720721
Abstract: A film wind-up control apparatus of a camera in which a film is transported in zigzag direction passing around at least a guide roller located before an exposure station, is adapted to advance the film a predetermined length of the film when an exposure is made in a predetermined period of time and an extra length in addition to the predetermined length after the predetermined period of time has elapsed, so as to advance that part of the film which was previously positioned around the guide roller, beyond the exposure station. The apparatus is also adapted to indicate the number of possible exposures with one decrement every other occurrence of the extra length of film advance. In this way, film that has become permanently curled around the guide roller never comes to rest in the exposure station; but at the same time, the count of remaining frames is kept accurate.

  • Patent number: 4720718
Abstract: A reflex camera having a reflex mirror and a light-blocking plate which are pivotally mounted for swinging movement so as to move between a viewing position and a photographing position. The reflex camera has a driving mechanism including an electric motor for causing the swing-up and -down movement of the reflex mirror and the light-blocking plate between the above-mentioned two positions, and a position-detecting device to detect the moved positions of the reflex mirror and the light blocking plate so as to control the speed of rotation of the electric motor according to the detected positions, thereby to prevent shocks and vibrations on the reflex mirror and the light-blocking plate.

  • Patent number: 4720719
Abstract: A film wind-up apparatus is incorporated in an interchangeable film magazine adapted to receive a film which has a backing paper including a leading end portion. The winding device automatically winds up the leading end portion only after the magazine is attached to a camera having a winding motor, film is loaded in the film magazine, the back cover of the magazine is closed, and a light-shielding plate is removed. Upon completion of the winding operation, a photosensitive portion of the film faces the exposure aperture, and a camera so equipped is ready to make exposures.
