  • Publication number: 20070300128
Abstract: A method and the apparatus of defect areas management includes the steps as following: reading a defect area table in a random access memory; if the area is readable, then read the area. If the area is not accessible, then label and add one count in the defect area table of inability to read of the defect area, and else if the count of inability to read of the defect area is more than a predetermined value, then the defect area is defined as the area of being not to be read again. Then the defect area of being not to be read again is skipped and not to be read the next time in order to decrease the total access time.

  • Publication number: 20070233940
Abstract: A method for updating data in a flash memory previously reserves a rewritable memory area for specific data, searches an address of latest modified data of data to be modified in the flash memory and modifies a backup of latest modified correct data. The method does not update the data when the modified data and the latest modified correct data are the same. When the modified data and the latest modified correct data are not the same, a whole sector where the specific data is located is updated if no unfilled area of the rewritable memory area exists, and the modified data is written into the previously reserved memory area after the address of the latest modified data to complete updating the data if the unfilled area of the rewritable memory area exists.

  • Publication number: 20070186224
Abstract: A position detecting device of an optical drive utilizes a simple wire to connect a CPU of the optical drive to a latch part and a fixing part, such that the latch part, the CPU and the fixing part, which are original parts of the optical drive, form a detecting circuit. When the latch part clasps or releases a tray, the latch part latches or releases the fixing part to close or open the detecting circuit so that the CPU can correctly judge whether the tray enters for positioning, and thus start or shut down the optical drive. In addition, the members such as a flexible cable, a casing and a mainboard may replace parts of the wire to simplify the detecting circuit.
