  • Publication number: 20180146287
Abstract: A system that performs noise estimation for an audio adjustment application comprises a coherence calculator that determines at least one coherence value between microphone signals generated by at least two microphones that each independently senses acoustic energy in a listening space. A first microphone of the at least two microphones generates a first microphone signal from the acoustic energy and a second microphone of the at least two microphones generates a second microphone signal from the acoustic energy. The acoustic energy comprises a combination of an audio signal transduced by one or more speakers and environmental noise of the acoustic energy that is local to the listening space. A noise estimate computation processor determines an estimate of a level of the environmental noise based on the at least one coherence value.

  • Patent number: 9184705
Abstract: A method and an amplifier for amplifying audio signals include a signal processor for processing incoming audio samples in preparation for amplification by an electronic amplifier circuit. A voltage is received from a power supply. Before the signal processor completes processing the incoming audio samples, an input level is estimated based on the incoming audio samples. In response to a comparison between the estimated input level and a threshold value, it is determined whether to boost the voltage received from the power supply. After the signal processor completes processing the incoming audio samples, an output level is estimated based on the processed audio samples. A determination is made, in response to the estimated output level, whether to adjust the threshold value used to determine whether to boost the voltage received from the power supply.

  • Patent number: 9154095
Abstract: A method and an amplifier for amplifying audio signals receive and process an incoming audio sample in preparation for amplification by an electronic amplifier circuit. A boost supply circuit receives a voltage from a power supply. A processor system determines whether amplification of the incoming audio sample warrants more voltage than the voltage received from the power supply. Before completing the processing of the incoming audio sample, the processor system sends a signal to the boost supply circuit to boost the voltage received from the power supply and to supply the boosted voltage to the electronic amplifier circuit if the incoming audio sample warrants more voltage than the voltage received from the power supply. Otherwise, the boost supply circuit passes the voltage received from the power supply to the electronic amplifier circuit.

  • Patent number: 6473525
Abstract: A method for detecting an image edge within a dithered image. A pixel within a support region is selected for processing. The differences between pixel values in the region and the selected pixel are computed to form a current difference map. Whether the selected pixel in the region differ by no more than one resolution level from any other pixel of the region is determined from the current difference map. An edge is determined not to exist within the region if the difference map for a region contains no values differing by more than one resolution level. An edge is determined to exist within a region if the difference map for the selected pixel and region contain values differing by more than one resolution level. Alternatively, a difference map for the selected region of support is determined and compared to a table of all possible valid difference maps. If a corresponding difference map is found within the table then an edge does not exist within the presently processed region of support.

  • Patent number: 6421084
Abstract: A digital imaging system is provided for interpolating a full color image from a camera having an array of single color sensors. Measured color values are stored as an array of data elements in a memory of the system. Each data element corresponds to the measured color value from one sensor. A set of gradient values is determined for each data element at a specific location in the array. The gradient values correspond to color value differences in a plurality of directions from the data element. From the set of gradient values, a threshold value is determined. Using the threshold value, a subset of gradient values is selected so that the members of the subset have gradient values less than the threshold. Additional color values for each data element are interpolated according to the subset of gradient values.

  • Patent number: 6347160
Abstract: A method for inverse dithering a dithered image using a filter selected from a set of filters arranged in a preselected order is disclosed. Upon receipt of a selected portion of a dithered image, the selected portion is up-multiplied from a first amplitude resolution to a second amplitude resolution. The up-multiplied dithered image at the second amplitude resolution is then filtered by the selected filter coefficients to generate the inverse dithered image.
