  • Patent number: 8712402
Abstract: A method that has cellphones report to the cellular network signal strength and location information when the signal strength falls below a chosen threshold. Each cellphone maintains a log file of entries, each of which specifies a location and a signal strength (that is below the chosen threshold) and on a regular basis sends the information in the log file to the cellular network's provider. The provider uses the information sent by the cellphones to identify geographic regions where signal conditions are poor, and that enables the provider to upgrade its network.

  • Patent number: 8705371
Abstract: A method includes detecting, at a customer premises equipment (CPE) device, a problem associated with a network device. The network device is communicatively coupled to the CPE device via a local area network. For example, the CPE device may include a residential gateway (RG). The method includes determining, at the CPE device, whether the problem associated with the network device is locally correctable. When the CPE device determines that the problem is locally correctable, the method includes initiating a corrective action to resolve the problem. When the CPE device determines that the problem is not locally correctable, the method includes sending data associated with the problem from the CPE device to a network system via a wide area network.

  • Patent number: 8613038
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention discloses a system and method for decoding multiple independent encoded audio streams using a single decoder. The system includes one or more parsers, a preprocessor, an audio decoder, and a renderer. The parser extracts individual audio frames from each input audio stream. The preprocessor combines the outputs of all parsers into a single audio frame stream and enables sharing of the audio decoder among multiple independent encoded audio streams. The audio decoder decodes the single audio frame stream and provides a single decoded audio stream. And the renderer renders the individual reconstructed audio streams from the single decoded audio stream.
