  • Patent number: 11578816
Abstract: A method for monitoring health of a valve is presented. The method includes receiving an acoustic emission signal from a sensing device operatively coupled to the valve, selecting a region of interest signal in the acoustic emission signal, determining a plurality of current parameters based on the region of interest signal, and monitoring the health of the valve based on at least the plurality of current parameters, wherein the region of interest signal comprises acoustic emission data generated from initiation of an opening of the valve until the valve is partially opened.

  • Publication number: 20170097323
Abstract: A method implemented by at least one processor, includes receiving an acoustic signal from an acoustic emission sensor disposed at a predetermined location on a casing of a rotary machine operating in a transient condition. The method further includes applying a signal envelope extraction technique to the acoustic signal to generate a transformed acoustic signal. The method also includes generating an acoustic signature signal based on the transformed acoustic signal and determining a crack defect on a stationary component of the rotary machine based on the acoustic signature signal.
