    Abstract: A development member for use in a development apparatus for the transport of magnetic toner to develop a latent image formed on a latent image carrier having either an elastic layer or a membrane member in combination with a magnetic field forming layer, and may also include conductive or insulating layers or both. A conductive layer provides for a high resolution picture image by means of the development electrode effect. An insulating layer provides for control of the amount of charge on the toner being transported and its polarity. The development member may be in the form of a roller member or an endless belt-type member and positioned for rotational passage in proximity relative to or for pressure contact or engagement with the latent image carrier.
