  • Patent number: 5985966
Abstract: An aqueous emulsion of fluorine-containing polymer according to the present invention contains an emulsion stabilizer represented by the formula:R--Ph--O--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --SO.sub.3 M(Ph is a phenyl radical; R is an alkyl radical having 8-12 carbon atoms; n is a number of 1-6; and M is Na, K or NH.sub.4). The resulting emulsion has excellent mechanical stabilities and thermal stabilities as well as decreased possibility of causing ground water contamination.

  • Patent number: 5788879
Abstract: In a method for preventing dust of a powdery material by mixing the powdery material with a polytetrafluoroethylene and subjecting the mixture to a compression-shearing action taken at temperatures from about 20.degree. to 200.degree. C. thereby the polytetrafluoroethylene is fibrillated to prevent dusting of the powdery material, the method is characterized by that polytetrafluoroethylene is an aqueous emulsion of a homopolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, the homopolymer has a specific gravity of not larger than 2.20 and an average particle size of 0.10-0.50.mu., and the emulsion contains a hydrocarbon-base anionic surfactant of not less than 1.0 wt % of the polytetrafluoroethylene as the emulsion stabilizer. The emulsion is highly stable and a less possible contaminant of underground water.

  • Patent number: 5700859
Abstract: An aqueous emulsion of fluorocarbon polymer according to the present invention is characterized by that the emulsion comprises a sodium dialkylsulfosuccinic acid of not less than 1.5% by weight relative to the fluorocarbon polymer, and an alkyleneglycol. A method for producing a stabilized aqueous emulsions of fluorocarbon polymer according to the present invention comprises mixing an aqueous emulsion of fluorocarbon polymer obtained by an emulsion polymerization process with a sodium dialkylsulfosuccinic acid dissolved in an alkyleneglycol or an aqueous solution of the alkyleneglycol. A novel aqueous emulsion of fluorocarbon polymer having excellent mechanical stability and thermal stability is obtainable.
