This creates a combined image of the face of the user and the eyeglasses like one as if the user actually put on the eyeglasses and confirmed the mounted state of the eyeglasses reflected in a mirror.

A determination unit determines whether the other red eye is present on the basis of the signal representing the small area and the coordinate values of the reddest pixel. The determination unit outputs an instruction signal for extracting a second area where the other red eye is present upon determining that the other red eye is present. A second area extraction unit receives the instruction signal and extracts the second area from the first area. A second pixel selection unit detects the reddest pixel from the second area and outputs coordinate values and color information of the pixel.

And, the inner canthus, outer canthus and their adjacent upper eyelid line are detected by finding the darkest point on the above image to detect the inner canthus and outer canthus points and their adjacent dot groups which become candidates for the upper eyelid line, and by carrying out the logical OR between the above upper eyelid area and the above dot groups.

A processing unit (21) processes the picture signal into a processed signal representative of the distance information. The optical beam may have an intensity which is higher that that of environmental light of the object. The predetermined time duration may be an instantaneous time duration. The beam generator may generate a flash of light as the optical beam.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a heat transfer module to improve the thermal efficiency of a hydrogen adsorption alloy. The hydrogen absorption alloy particles are coated with a metal which is different from that of the alloy, followed by the formation of a compact with the coated particles. The compact so formed has a substantially uniform specific gravity. The compact is then inserted in a pipe mode of a metal which is different from that of the alloy. The pipe has an internal diameter which is a function of the diameter of the compact and the free expansion coefficient of the compact. The method will improve the usefulness of hydrogen adsorption alloy in practical use.
