  • Patent number: 10586678
Abstract: Disclosed herein are superconducting gantry magnets that include multiple quadrupole winding sections placed in sequence on a curve such that the effective current direction is reversed between sections. This produces alternating quadrupole field regions along the length of the bend whose individual integral strengths can be tuned by the location of the current polarity transitions. A simple transition scheme to reverse the current between sections can be implemented to allow for the use of one continuous winding and power supply. Dipole windings can be included in the superconducting gantry magnets so that the magnets produce superposed dipole and alternating quadrupole fields. The disclosed design for the windings and transition scheme to reverse current polarity can be implemented for higher order multipoles as well.

  • Patent number: 8109515
Abstract: A puzzle formed by splitting of a 3-D body by three pairs of symmetrical conical surfaces. The body has a hollow sphere inside with three main axes coincided with the axes of each pair. The elements are a result of splitting by the conical surfaces and comprise outer and inner junction means providing two adjacent elements sliding with respect to each other. There are three types of elements with orientation means: six polar, twelve median and eight triangular elements. The elements adjacent to one conical surface comprise key open means providing elements move apart. The goal of the three-dimensional puzzle is to put the body in right order by 90 degrees rotations of elements spaced from one side of conical surfaces, to the initial ordered orientation, where the body can be separated for two parts providing access to the space located inside the hollow sphere.

  • Patent number: 6848729
Abstract: A universal electromechanical strike locking system for doors comprising linear horizontal moving strikes in the doorjamb for locking and releasing both dead bolts and latch bolts. The system operates in doors having one or more dead bolts and/or one or more latch bolts. The system allows locking and releasing doors by either operating the conventional locking system of the door or the universal electromechanical strike locking system. The system comprises a controller with user access means that coordinates one or a plurality of electromechanical strikes in a fault tolerant method employing closed loop control.

  • Gun
    Patent number: 5502915
Abstract: A programmable gun has a body supporting a handle, a trigger and a pin actuatable between a first position providing for a trigger depression to fire a bullet and a second position restraining the trigger depression. A memory stores a print identifying an authorized person's hand when such person inserts a key in the handle and then grips the handle. Hand prints of one (1) or more authorized persons, or several hand prints of one (1) person, may be stored in the memory when such persons move the key, after insertion, to individual positions and then grip the handle. When an authorized person thereafter grips the handle, that person's hand generates a print for comparison with the prints in the memory. A comparison coincidence produces a pin actuation to the first position. A subsequent gun firing is recorded in the memory as to time and as to the authorized person. When a comparison coincidence is established, the ability to fire the gun continues until such authorized person relinquishes the gun.
