Publication number: 20210086719Abstract: A side airbag device includes an airbag that is to be deployed and inflated to correspond to a portion from at least a head portion to a chest portion of the occupant. With a vehicle width direction being taken as a thickness direction, inner surfaces of the airbag in the thickness direction are connected by a tether so that a thickness of the airbag is regulated. The tether partitions an inner portion of the airbag into a first inflation chamber and a second inflation chamber, and has a communication hole through which the first inflation chamber and the second inflation chamber are in communication. When the airbag is inflated, the first inflation chamber corresponds to a rear chest portion of the occupant, and the second inflation chamber corresponds to a front chest portion and the head portion of the occupant. The inflator is disposed in the first inflation chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2020Publication date: March 25, 2021Inventors: Shohei OTA, Koji SHIBAYAMA
