  • Publication number: 20230193720
Abstract: Techniques of the present disclosure relate to validating data for a composition design. A method comprises applying a machine learning model to at least two inputs comprising parameters of a cement composition and experimental conditions such that the machine learning model outputs at least one predicted property of the cement composition; performing a laboratory experiment to determine at least one experimental property of the cement composition; calculating an error between the at least one predicted property and the at least one experimental property; and recording the experimental data in a cement property database if the error is within an error range or repeating the performing the laboratory experiment if the error is outside the error range.

  • Patent number: 11639646
Abstract: Geomechanical parameters can be used to optimize a well configuration that includes one or more projected wells having locations and geometries. Formation data and regional stress information of a formation can be used to determine a local stress variation of the formation. A quality index can be generated by combining petrophysical properties with the local stress variation. Hydrocarbon recovery flow simulations can be generated by generating well configuration models based on the quality index, generating reservoir geomechanical model that includes hydraulic fracture propagation characteristics, determining new hydraulic fractures by simulating propagation through the reservoir geomechanical model and using geomechanical rules, and determining a projected hydrocarbon recovery rate by simulating flow with the new hydraulic fractures. A well placement plan can be selected using the projected hydrocarbon recovery rates. The well placement plan can be output to be used to plan one or more wellbores.

  • Publication number: 20210131260
Abstract: An apparatus for generating forecasts from a high-dimensional parameter data space comprising a reservoir model, a model order reduction module, and an assisted history matching module. The reservoir model having input variables, output variables, and an algorithmic model. The input variables, output variables, and the algorithmic model are generated by a flow simulator module and from a formation and reservoir properties database and a field production database. The model order reduction module generates a subset of the original or transformed input variables. This subset has a reduced parameter space than that of the input variables. The subset is generated using a function decomposition and a design of experiments (sensitivity analysis) to reduce number of original variables and identify original or transformed input variables that can be used to approximate output variables.

  • Publication number: 20210133375
Abstract: An apparatus used to generate forecasts from a high-dimensional parameter data space. The apparatus comprising a reservoir model and a flow simulator module. The reservoir model comprising a plurality input variables, output variables, and at least one algorithmic model. The input variables and output variables are generated by the flow simulator module and variables from a formation and reservoir properties database and a field production database. The flow simulator module generates the at least one algorithmic model and the output variables using at least one selected from a group comprising a full-physics flow simulator, proxy flow simulator for assisted history matching, and a proxy flow simulator for field development optimization. The full-physics flow simulator and the two proxy flow simulators generate the at least one algorithmic model using at least one selected from a group comprising the reservoir model, history matching input variables, and optimization input variables.
