  • Patent number: 5240649
Abstract: An enrichment device for a charge forming system for an internal combustion engine that is responsive to induction system pressure for effecting a pumping action to draw fluid in when the engine is operating in a steady state condition and to discharge fluid for enrichment when the engine is being accelerated. The system includes a series of interrelated pressure sensing chambers for controlling the operation of the pump to avoid fluctuations during small variations in induction system pressure but to permit rapid and immediate pumping action upon sudden pressure changes.

  • Patent number: 5186133
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for controlling the air/fuel mixture ratio during the starting period for an outboard motor. Specifically, a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater controls a fuel flow regulating valve at an engine's charge forming device. A multipolar generator is used as an exclusive power source for the PTC heater. The arrangement of the invention has a relatively simple construction and can be used with propulsion units which do not have batteries.
