  • Publication number: 20040013121
Abstract: A receiver including: a data regeneration mechanism that receives and regenerates data transmitted in units of a packet; a storage device in which received data is stored; a packet ID extraction unit that extracts a packet ID indicating a packet to be re-received; and a retransmission request unit that transmits retransmission request information, which requests retransmission of a packet to be re-received, to a transmitter. The transmitter retransmits only a packet, which is identified with a packet ID specified in the retransmission request information sent from the receiver, to the receiver. The receiver overwrites data, which is stored in the storage device, with data contained in a packet retransmitted from the transmitter. There is thus provided a recovery system for restoring data, which is preserved in the storage device, while regenerating data without stopping a motion picture irrespective of whether a lost packet is present.

  • Publication number: 20020052848
Abstract: A terminal management device manages the sharing by at the least one business entity of costs related to distributed terminal devices. In a case that a new business entity, which uses the terminal devices and provides services after the terminal devices have been distributed, the terminal management device computes and totals the differences of shared costs of each business entity, which will change in accordance with the addition thereof. Thus, by managing the changes of a plurality of business entities bearing the costs related to terminal devices, changes in the shares of the costs thereof can be adjusted easily even in a case that business entities using the terminal devices thereof and providing services change after the terminal devices have been distributed to subscribers. Therefore, the present invention facilitates the participation of a new service business entity in the provision of services using terminal devices subsequent to the terminal devices being distributed.

  • Patent number: 5272843
Abstract: A method for truing a grinding wheel having a non-straight cylindrical grinding surface. In truing operation, a truing tool is caused to contact different portions of the grinding surface, and relative position of the truing tool is detected when the truing tool contacts the respective portions. Then, a first portion rom which a largest amount of abrasive layer must be removed, and a second portion from which a smallest amount of abrasive layer must be removed are found out. Based upon the detected positions, the radial location of an initial truing start position and a truing operation end position are calculated. The truing tool is initially moved to the initial truing start position, and then traversed from the truing start position along a locus corresponding to a desired final shape of the grinding wheel. The radial location of the truing start position is then shifted in a direction of approaching to the rotational axis of the grinding wheel, and the traverse movement is repeated.

  • Patent number: 5253286
Abstract: The television camera of a video telephone set can easily be focused on the image of an object, such as a sheet of paper, through an inexpensive focusing apparatus. An indication corresponding to the size of the sheet is displayed on a display unit. The size of the displayed indication is determined depending on the distance, as detected by a zoomed distance detector, by which the lens of the television camera is zoomed. The position of the television camera is moved with respect to the object until the edges of the sheet are aligned with the indication displayed on the display screen of the display unit. When the edges of the sheet are aligned with the displayed indication, the television camera is sharply focused on the displayed image of the object. The size of the displayed indication, which indicates the actual size of the sheet, is determined based on an inputted sheet size and the detected distance by which the lens is zoomed. The television camera can thus be focused on the displayed image with ease.
