  • Patent number: 5027773
Abstract: A control device for an automotive engine provided with a fuel injection valve determines the current value of a parameter (e.g. the mean effective combustion pressure) indicative of the output power of the engine, and compares it to the target value thereof determined, for example, from the temporal change of the throttle opening degree. At least one of the parameters: the driving pulse width of the fuel injection valve (corresponding to the amount of fuel supply), the ignition timing, and the amount of intake air, is selected as a manipulated variable and controlled so as to reduce the difference between the current and target values of the parameter.

  • Patent number: 4971009
Abstract: A fuel control apparatus for an internal combustion engine comprises a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure in a combination chamber and a crank angle sensor for detecting a crank angle. During compression stroke, a microcomputer calculates the difference in pressure in the combustion chamber between two crank angles, or differentiates the pressure in the combustion chamber with respect to the crank angle at an arbitrary crank angle. Then, the microcomputer normalizes the pressure difference between the two crank angles by the pressure difference between the two crank angles when the engine is in an arbitrary reference condition, for example, its start condition, or normalizes the differentiated pressure at the arbitrary crank angle by the differentiated pressure at the arbitrary crank angle when the engine is in the arbitrary reference condition, for example, its start condition.

  • Patent number: 4903665
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio control apparatus for an internal combustion engine operates a signal of inner pressure of cylinder and a signal of crank angle position to obtain the maximum value of a rate of pressure increase in an ignition cycle or the mean value of the maximum values in a predetermined number of cycles, whereby a fuel injection quantity is controlled by using said value. An exhaust gas temperature may be used as well as the signals of the inner pressure of cylinder and the crank angle.
