    Abstract: A biopsy device includes: a hollow needle; a wire located inside the needle and having a helical drill portion; a rotation mechanism moving the drill portion; a sheath covering the needle, the needle and the wire being movable in a longitudinal direction of the needle with respect to the sheath; and an operating unit on a proximal side of the needle, the wire, and the sheath. The unit includes: a main body fixed to a proximal end of the sheath; and a knob fixed to a proximal end of the wire and supported by the main body so as to be movable in the longitudinal direction and rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the wire. The mechanism includes: a threaded portion, on the main body, having a pitch equal to a pitch of the drill portion; and a joint portion, on the knob, joined to the threaded portion.
