  • Patent number: 5954920
Abstract: A paper comprises 5 to 100% by weight of a thermotropic aromatic polyester pulp with constituting fibers having an average fiber diameter of at least 0.1 .mu.m and less than 10 .mu.m and substantially no branches, and is obtained by a process which comprises wet forming a paper material comprising 5 to 100% by weight of the above pulp which is obtained from sea-islands fibers comprising an islands component of the thermotropic aromatic polyester and a sea component of another polymer by dissolving or decomposing off the sea component before or after cutting the fibers to an average length of not more than 5 mm. The paper has excellent strength, texture, electric insulation property and like properties.

  • Patent number: 5364694
Abstract: Provided is a polyethylene terephthalate-based meltblown nonwoven fabric comprising a mixed polymer comprising 75 to 98% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate and 2 to 25% by weight of a polyolefin. The meltblown fabric has excellent thermal resistance, dimensional stability, strength and hand. Also provided is a process for producing a polyethylene terephthalate-based meltblown nonwoven fabric, which comprises melt blowing a mixed polymer comprising 75 to 98% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate and 2 to 25% by weight of a polyolefin. It is preferable that the melt blowing is conducted at a single orifice throughput of 0.2 to 1.0 g/min and under an air-jet pressure of 0.1 to 1.0 kg/cm.sup.2.

  • Patent number: 5318845
Abstract: A highly oriented, undrawn, conductive, composite filament is provided, which is white or colorless and has antistatic properties durable over a long period when clothing utilizing the fiber are actually put on and washed. The filament is a sheath-core composite filament comprising a sheath of a fiber-forming thermoplastic polymer (A) and a core of a composition (B) comprising a conductive material which comprises a conductive metal oxide and a thermoplastic polyamide, having a core resistance of not more than 9.times.10.sup.10 .OMEGA./cm.multidot.filament, the composite filament maintaining a critical elongation--an elongation reached in the course of extending a composite filament at which the core resistance exceeds 1.times.10.sup.11 .OMEGA./cm.multidot.filament at a D.C. voltage of 1 kV--of at least 5% and a shrinkage in hot water at 100.degree. C. of not higher than 20%.

  • Patent number: 4550635
Abstract: A pipe end cutting apparatus for processing pipes without variations in the angle of bevel and the root face thickness due to changes in the diameter of the pipes. There are provided a pipe clamping device for clamping the inside of a pipe, a rotary driving unit supported on the pipe clamping device, a feed unit for moving the rotary driving unit in the axial direction, and a control unit for controlling the rotary driving unit to rotate concentrically with the pipe. Processing tools for cutting the pipe end are mounted on the rotary driving unit through parallelogram links in such a manner that the processing tools are each caused to make a parallel movement in the radial direction of the pipe, while maintaining its cutting angle at a given angle with respect to the pipe end.
