Abstract: A method for preparing a silver halide photographic emulsion containing silver halide grains , each of which has two or more phases different in the silver halide composition, comprising a step of growing silver halide grains, in which said silver halide grains are grown by supplying a solution of water-soluble silver salt and a solution of water-soluble halide, wherein fine grains of silver halide having a solubility product smaller than that of silver halide grains present in the course of growing silver halide grains are made present in the silver halide emulsion at a time during the grain-growth, iridium ions being individually added at a time when or after starting the grain-growth.

Abstract: A silver halide emulsion comprising a dispersing medium and light-sensitive silver halide grains wherein said silver halide grains each comprise:(a) a high silver iodide-containing phase having a silver iodide content of not less than 15 mol % in the internal portion,(b) a low silver iodide-containing phase locating outside the phase (a) and having a silver iodide content lower than that of the phase (a), and(c) a surface phase having a silver iodide content higher than that of an inner phase adjacent thereto,and wherein a part or all of the phase (c) and a part or all of the phase (a) or the phase (b) are formed by supplying a fine silver halide grain emulsion prepared in the presence of protective colloid.

Abstract: A process of preparing a silver halide emulsion comprising mixing a water-soluble silver salt solution with a water-soluble halide solution in the presence of a protective colloid. Silver halide grains are formed which are octahedral or tetra decahedral silver iodobromide containing at least 4 mol % silver iodide. A tetrazaindene compound is added to the mixture before the completion of the addition of the silver salt solution.

Abstract: Silver halide photographic materials with higher sensitivity and less fogging having at least one silver halide emulsion layer over a photographic base or support wherein the emulsion of said emulsion layer substantially contains core/shell-type silver halide grains or core/shell-type monodisperse silver halide grains, core portion of said grain containing silver iodide in a greater amount than that contained in shell portion of said grain and said emulsion is subjected to chemical ripening in the presence of a labile selenium compound, optionally with coexistence of a silver halide solvent, and said emulsion may contain further a specific phenol compound.
