  • Patent number: 5201622
Abstract: A train apparatus for removing thick blister buildups from an underground fiber conduit used for housing power cables. The train apparatus includes three or more cutting units including an initial, a middle and a final cutting unit having smallest, medium and largest overall cutting diameters respectively. Each cutting unit having a lead guide and six cutting stars each having four cutting blades where the cutting blades on one cutting star are offset with the cutting blades on the other cutting stars. When pulled through the fiber conduit, the lead guide of the cutting units will prevent the cutting unit from going off the center of the conduit and digging itself into the interior sidewall of the conduit. The initial, middle and final cutting units will remove respectively the surface, the intermediate and the underneath portions sequentially.

Abstract: A radio telephone switching control system having control channels which transmit/receive control data betweeen a plurality of movable terminals and a radio base station. The control channels include a mono-functional channel for access which is dedicated to access during data transmission/receiving by calling from the terminals. The control channel also includes a bi-functional channel for paging and access usable as a channel for paging one of the terminals as well as for access. The system contains a base station with a fault detector. Only one kind of control channel information is broadcast in the same service zone. All of the movable stations existing in same service zone scan the first or second range to decide the channel for access or paging according to the received control channel information. The system also sets the mono-functional channel for access and the bi-functional channel for paging and access, when a fault is not detected.

  • Patent number: 4942486
Abstract: A record disk has a read-only track area and a writable track area in which a guard band of a sufficient width is formed between such two areas for prevention of erroneous writing into the read-only track area during data writing into the writable track area. Apparatus using such disk employs a pair of heads with opposite azimuth angles and erasing of a track is first checked to prevent a read-only track from being erased. During such track erasing, a track recorded by a head with one azimuth is erased by a head with the other azimuth.
