  • Patent number: 7044873
Abstract: A continuously variable transmission includes: (a) a drive pulley and a driven pulley in which the pulley width between a fixed disk and a movable disk may be varied in accordance with oil pressure, (b) a V-belt, which is wound around the drive pulley and driven pulley, and (c) a clutch for controlling the transmission of torque from an engine to the drive pulley. The continuously variable transmission further has a first spring for constantly urging the movable disk of the drive pulley to the fixed disk side and a second spring for constantly urging the movable disk of the driven pulley to the fixed disk side.

  • Publication number: 20050233847
Abstract: A belt type continuously variable transmission for an automotive vehicle includes a power transmitting device disposed on a first shaft coaxial with a power output shaft of an engine. A drive pulley is disposed on the first shaft and driven by an output power of the power transmitting device. A driven pulley is disposed on a second shaft parallel with the first shaft and connected to the drive pulley by a belt. A parking gear is formed at the outer peripheral portion of a fixed sheave of the driven pulley. Teeth of the parking gear are located generally the same position as a bearing for the driven pulley in an axial direction of the second shaft.

  • Publication number: 20050233844
Abstract: A spline is fit on a rotary shaft at a position bounding a first diameter passing through an axis of the rotary shaft, located between a backside inner circumferential surface of a movable pulley disk and a first outer circumferential surface of the rotary shaft, and arranged to restrict rotation of the movable pulley disk. A hydraulic fluid chamber for driving the movable pulley disk is formed at a backside position of the movable pulley disk. A seal portion for the hydraulic fluid chamber is fit over the rotary shaft at a position bounding a second diameter passing through the axis of the rotary shaft, located at a gap between a sheave-side inner circumferential surface of the movable pulley disk and a second outer circumferential surface of the rotary shaft confronting the sheave-side inner circumferential surface. The second diameter is set equal to the first diameter.

  • Patent number: 6253137
Abstract: An engine and a motor are connected to the drive wheels of a vehicle via an automatic transmission. The drive wheels are driven using one of or both of the motor and the engine depending on the running state. The automatic transmission varies the drive ratio by the discharge pressure of the oil pressure pump. The oil pressure pump is driven by a second motor. When the automatic transmission is varying the drive ratio, the discharge of the oil pressure pump is increased by increasing the rotational speed of the second motor and thus the required oil for varying the drive ratio is maintained.

  • Patent number: 6122587
Abstract: An antilock brake system which decreases a braking pressure to prevent drive wheels from locking is applied to a hybrid vehicle wherein an engine and a motor are connected to the drive wheels via a continuously variable transmission. The rotation torque of a motor is applied to the drive wheels when the braking pressure is reduced due to antilock control so that the engine braking force which acts during braking does not interfere with antilock control.

  • Patent number: 6064161
Abstract: A motor/generator and drive wheel are connected to an engine, and the drive wheel is driven by the engine and motor/generator according to running conditions. A sensor which detects a slip of the drive wheel and a sensor which detects a depression of an accelerator pedal are provided, and the motor/generator is operated as a generator when the accelerator pedal is depressed and the drive wheel has slipped. Further, a spin of the drive wheel is prevented by increasing the rotation resistance of the motor/generator according to the frictional coefficient of the road surface.

  • Patent number: 6009365
Abstract: An engine and generator/motor are connected to the input shaft of a continuously variable transmission, and the output shaft of the continuously variable transmission is connected to drive wheels. A target value of a coasting torque acting on the output shaft during coasting is set according to a vehicle speed. A real coasting torque is estimated from the output torque of the engine and frictional torque of the continuously variable transmission. By making the generator/motor function as a generator or a motor, fluctuation of the engine braking force due to a variation of drive ratio during coasting is suppressed so that the real coasting torque coincides with the target value.
