    Abstract: An image processing method comprising: receiving MRI data representing a scan of an organ of a patient, the MRI data including multiecho data for a plurality of pixels; for each of a plurality of pixels of the MRI data: fitting the multiecho data to a simulated decay curve; calculating a tissue index based on at least one parameter of the simulated decay curve; and comparing the tissue index to a threshold to determine a tissue type; wherein each pixel of the multiecho data consists of 16 or fewer echoes.
