  • Patent number: 11769005
Abstract: Techniques are provided for assessing uniqueness of information using string-based collection frequency techniques. One method comprises obtaining multiple collections of documents from at least one data source; determining a collection frequency for a given character string based on a number of the collections comprising the given character string relative to a total number of the collections; assigning a uniqueness rating to the given character string based at least in part on a comparison of the collection frequency of the given character string to a collection frequency of one or more additional character strings in one or more of the plurality of collections; and performing an automated action using the given character string based on the assigned uniqueness rating. The automated action may comprise protecting the given character string and/or identifying the given character string as important information satisfying one or more importance criteria.

  • Patent number: 6421337
Abstract: Method and apparatus for alleviating switch congestion caused by long hold times for on-line access calls. A protocol converting device is connected to the originating switch in a public network, usually an ISDN switch. We call the protocol converting device a “smart connector”. The smart connector is connected to the switch by a high speed LAN. The smart connector and the switch include computer program code and hardware which allow the smart connector to transparently re-direct on-line access calls away from the switch and the public network and to a service provider, usually an Internet service provider, through a dedicated data network connected to the provider's point-of-presence (POP). The smart connector provides protocol conversion functions.

  • Patent number: 6081589
Abstract: Method and apparatus for identifying on-line access calls in a network switch. The switch determines which calls are to an on-line service provider, usually an Internet service provider or ISP. The switch then determines if the service provider has enough ports available to handle the call, and if the connection to a dedicated data network has enough capacity. The call can then be handled as an on-line access call and routed accordingly. The initial determination as to whether the call is an on-line access call can be made by analyzing information received when the call is initiated such as the called party number digits or by a query initiated by an advanced intelligent network (AIN) trigger.
