  • Patent number: 6419108
Abstract: An insulated beverage container includes an outer container having a generally cylindrical inner wall (24), an outer wall (22) spaced from the inner wall and together therewith defining an insulating space (26). A vacuum is pulled in the insulating space (26) and an access opening (34) is provided at the top of the outer container. A plastic ring (30) is mounted on the outer container about the access opening (34) and has a shoulder section (34) overlying the top of the outer container and a downwardly extending sleeve section (32) integral with the shoulder section and embracing the outer wall (22). An inner container (12) formed of a material selected from the group consisting of glass, plastic and ceramics is nested within the outer container (10) through the access opening and has an open top (16) extending out of the access opening and an outer surface contacting the ring (30).

  • Patent number: 5153977
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of making a double-walled thermally insulating metal container comprising an inner casing and an outer casing having an evacuation opening. A quantity of joining material is placed near or on the evacuation opening so as to cover the opening partially or completely. The assembly is treated in a vacuum furnace to evacuate the insulating space, to melt the joining material and to solidify the joining material in situ to provide vacuum sealing without resorting to a conventional sealing plate.

  • Patent number: 4960218
Abstract: A plug body having an inner cylindrical member with short engagement receivers and long engagement receivers together with steps, an operating button with short engaging elements and long engaging elements that are respectively received by the short engagement receivers and long engagement receivers, a rotatable slider provided with protrusions, a valve body with a valve stem which is inserted into the rotatable slider and the inner cylindrical member, a spring that preloads the rotatable slider upwards so that the long and short engaging elements of the operating button alternatively make contact with the protrusions, causing the rotatable slider to rotate with a depression of the operating button. The liquid passage is opened when the long engaging elements of the operating button make contact with the protrusions of the rotatable slider. In this case, the operating button protrudes upward above the upper lid of the liquid container.

  • Patent number: 4684057
Abstract: Disclosed is a vacuum-heat-insulated cooking utensil and a method of manufacturing the same. Inner and outer containers are prepared each having a tubular side wall and an end wall closing the end of the side wall. The inner container is positioned in the outer container with the respective bottoms being in contact with each other through a first brazing material, with the other ends of the side walls fitted to each other with a gap which constitutes a vacuum sealing section, and with an annular space being defined between the side walls. A second brazing material having a melting point higher than that of the first brazing material is positioned at the vacuum sealing section. An assembly of the containers and the brazing materials is placed in a vacuum furnace. The furnace is evacuated to evacuate the annular space. Temperature within the furnace is raised above the melting point of the second brazing material to melt the first and second brazing materials.

  • Patent number: 4675508
Abstract: A vacuum bottle of the electric heater type includes a body having a tubular outer shell and a tubular inner shell disposed within the outer shell to form a hermetically sealed thermal insulation vacuum space therebetween. A tubular connecting member has an open lower end and an upper end wall having an aperture formed therethrough. The upper end wall of the connecting member is fixedly hermetically secured to a lower surface of a bottom wall of the inner shell with the apertures therein in communication, and the tubular connecting member is fitted in an aperture of a bottom wall of the outer shell and fixedly hermetically secured thereto adjacent to the open lower end thereof to hold the bottom walls of the inner and outer shells in spaced sealed relation to each other. An electric heater is mounted within the inner shell for heating contents of the inner shell.

  • Patent number: 4630742
Abstract: Disclosed is an assembly of an elongated container and a plug therefor. The container has defined therein a receiving space for contents, an opening through which the contents are filled into the receiving space and discharged therefrom, and an annular ridge formed at a location spaced from the opening toward the receiving space a predetermined distance. The annular ridge defines a throat having a circumferentially continuous, planar sealing surface extending substantially longitudinally of the container a predetermined distance. The plug is threadedly engageable with the container so as to open and close the opening by axial one end of the plug. An annular resilient sealing member carried on the other axial end of the plug is in sealing contact with the planar sealing surface with the opening being closed by the axial one end of the plug threadedly engaged with the container.
