  • Publication number: 20170095967
Abstract: A tool for fixing a protective textile sleeve about an elongate member contained therein and method of use thereof is provided. The tool includes a clamp assembly having opposed clamp members attached to one another for pivotal movement relative to one another between an open state and a closed state. The clamp members have clamping surfaces, wherein at least one of the clamping surfaces has at least one outlet. A fluid source is arranged in fluid communication with the at least one outlet, and a heat source is configured to heat fluid from the fluid source to create steam. The steam is dispensed outwardly from the at least one outlet to cause an adhesive on the sleeve to become activated to bond with an adjacent abutting surface.

  • Publication number: 20160083627
Abstract: A protective textile sleeve for providing protection to an elongate member contained therein; a method of construction thereof, and a method of bonding at least a portion of the sleeve to at least one of itself and an elongate member extending through a cavity thereof is provided. The sleeve has a wall of interlaced yarn, with the wall having an outermost surface and an innermost surface. The innermost surface is configured to bound a cavity extending between opposite open ends. The sleeve further includes an adhesive coating bonded to at least a portion of at least one of the outermost and innermost surfaces. The adhesive coating has a first, dried non-adhesive state and a second, wetted adhesive state, wherein the second adhesive state is activated via application of a water-based liquid thereto.

  • Publication number: 20150056388
Abstract: A protective textile sleeve having enhanced end fray resistance and being adapted to be bonded to an elongate member extending therethrough, and method of construction thereof, are provided. The sleeve has a wall with a cavity bounded by an innermost surface extending between opposite open ends. A first material, including a hot melt adhesive material, facilitating bonding the wall to an outer surface of an elongate member extending therethrough, is bonded to the wall immediately adjacent the opposite ends, and a second material, facilitating prevention of end fray of the wall ends, including an elastomeric material is bonded to the wall immediately adjacent the opposite ends.

  • Patent number: 7294008
Abstract: A waterproof lead includes an electric wire, a terminal, and a heat-shrink tube. The electric wire has an insulative cover and a plurality of exposed core wires. The terminal has a contact member, a core wire crimping section that crimps the plurality of exposed core wires, and an insulative cover crimping section that crimps the insulative cover. The heat-shrink tube covers at least a leading end of the exposed core wires adjacent to the core wire crimping section. An adhesive is provided on an internal surface of the heat-shrink tube. The adhesive seals clearances between adjacent exposed core wires.
