Patent number: 5364823Abstract: This invention relates to a method for manufacturing an inorganic porous layered member which can maintain a sufficient distance between layers to show a high degree of heat insulating properties. In the manufacturing method for the inorganic porous layered member according to the present invention, an inorganic layered compound 12 having swelling charecteristics is swelled, and an inorganic pillar and an organic pillar are intercalated to form inorganic compound 16 between layers 14 of the inorganic layered compound 12. Fine gaps are thus formed in a wide range by the intercalation of the inorganic compound 16 between the layers 14 to maintain a sufficient distance between the layers 14, and the inorganic porous layered member 10 having high heat insulating properties is thus produced.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1987Date of Patent: November 15, 1994Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Koichi Takahama, Shozo Hirao, Masaru Yokoyama, Takashi Kishimoto, Hiroshi Yokokawa

Patent number: 5342651Abstract: A method for manufacturing a modified wood prepares a natural wood material containing more than a predetermined amount of a solvent for dissolving two different compounds which chemically react with each other to form an insoluble compound, provides a layer of each of the different compounds inside each of two opposing surfaces of the wood material, causes the different compounds to chemically react with each other within the wood material and fixes the formed insoluble compound in the wood material, whereby the fixation amount of the insoluble compound in the wood can be effectively increased.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1993Date of Patent: August 30, 1994Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroaki Usui, Shozo Hirao, Satoru Konishi, Hiroyuki Ishikawa, Kenji Oonisi, Arihiro Adachi

Patent number: 5149513Abstract: A method of preparing an inorganic porous member causes a layered inorganic compound in swelled state with a solvent contained therein to be dried in a super critical state, so as to have holes held between respective layers of the inorganic compound, whereby the layered compound can be excellently maintained with less agglomeration caused upon removal of the solvent and the hole volume in the entire inorganic porous member can be remarkably increased.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1988Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Kouichi Takahama, Shozo Hirao, Masaru Yokoyama, Takashi Kishimoto, Hiroshi Yokogawa, Atsushi Makino

Patent number: 5124101Abstract: A method for manufacturing a fine porous member provides that vacant space within the porous member is sufficiently finely small such that the thermal conductivity of the member is lower than that of stationary air. In the method, a fine particle powder together with an ultrafine particle powder preliminarily subjected to a surface treatment for prevention of cohesiveness and employed at least as a part of the fine particle powder, are molded into the fine porous member, whereby the vacant space between the respective particles are made finely small to a remarkable extent and the porous member is provided as highly adapted to be used as a heat insulator.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1990Date of Patent: June 23, 1992Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Shozo Hirao, Masaru Yokoyama, Takashi Kishimoto, Kouichi Takahama, Hiroshi Yokogawa

Patent number: 4857365Abstract: A method of manufacturing a modifed wood material can fix within a raw wood material an insoluble, non-flammable inorganic compound with a highly efficient reaction achieved between cations and anions by sequentially immersing the raw wood material at least three times alternately in each of, and different one from that employed immediately before of a first water-soluble inorganic substance solution containing cations and a second water-soluble inorganic substance solution containing anions.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1988Date of Patent: August 15, 1989Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Shozo Hirao, Hiroaki Usui, Yoshihiro Ohta, Takashi Nakai, Hiroyuki Ishikawa, Satoru Konishi

Patent number: 4731265Abstract: A method of manufacturing a modified wood material, wherein a raw wood material is processed in a first bath of a first solution containing metallic ions high in the affinity and showing insoluble and non-flammable properties within the wood material, and then in a second bath of a second solution containing negative ions which produces an insoluble, non-flammable inorganic composition upon reaction with the metallic ions, whereby the obtained modified wood material is made to have the insoluble, non-flammable inorganic composition produced and fixed therein to allow the material to hold a good flame retardancy and excellent rotproof and mothproof properties.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1986Date of Patent: March 15, 1988Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Shozo Hirao, Ayumu Yasuda, Yoshihiro Ohta, Takashi Nakai, Kazuo Seto

Patent number: 4465539Abstract: A new artificial veneer resembling expensive natural wood veneers can be manufactured by a new method from an inexpensive raw log, wherein a wood-meal containing veneer is first obtained by slicing in quartersawn grain direction a primary artificial flitch of many material veneers of the inexpensive raw log stacked and bonded with a wood-meal layer interposed between them, and many of the wood-meal containing veneers are stacked and bonded, with the material veneers alternately interposed as they stand or as further processed, into a secondary curved artificial flitch, which is sliced in flatsawn grain direction into the new artificial veneers presenting a grain pattern similar to that of the expensive wood with minutely raised and recessed uneven surface at simulated porous zones by the wood-meal containing veneers.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1982Date of Patent: August 14, 1984Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Yasuhiro Saihara, Takashi Kishimoto, Kiyouji Masamoto, Shozo Hirao, Takeru Murakami, Yoshihiko Yamashita

Patent number: 4388133Abstract: A method of manufacturing artificial wood veneers comprises a step in which an artificial flitch formed of laminated material veneers respectively cut out of a certain kind of inexpensive natural wood is sliced in the direction of obtaining straight grain pattern to obtain a collected veneer in which mutual joining surfaces of the material veneers extend in parallel with each other and in the thickness direction, and a step in which many of the collected veneers thus obtained and material veneers cut out of another kind of natural wood are laminated, pressed and collected to form another artificial flitch which is sliced in a direction of obtaining a flat or flowered grain pattern which is very similar to that of a high grade natural wood.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1981Date of Patent: June 14, 1983Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Shozo Hirao, Yasuhiro Saihara, Toshio Nakanishi, Ichiro Ihara, Yoshio Sano
