Publication number: 20010019979Abstract: A power transmission chain belt has multiple inner links, each having a pair of pin apertures. The links are interleaved in the transverse and longitudinal directions. The links are connected by a connecting pin inserted in the pin aperture to compose a chain belt. The connecting pin is composed of a joint pin of an arcuate cross-section, both end faces of which contact the pulley's friction face, and a rocker pin of arcuate cross-section, which is shorter than the joint pin. The outer link is arranged on the outside of outermost inner link. A stepped portion of the joint pin is press-fitted into a pair of pin apertures of outer link.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2001Publication date: September 6, 2001Inventors: Shozo Wakabayashi, Niroyuki Takeda

Patent number: 5700217Abstract: A power transmission chain in which round pins are inserted in link apertures with D-shaped cross-section and a bushing of U-shaped cross-section. The bushing can be formed of several different shapes in order to decrease the wear between the pins and the associated link apertures.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1996Date of Patent: December 23, 1997Assignee: Borg-Warner Automotive, K.K.Inventor: Shozo Wakabayashi

Patent number: 5645502Abstract: The power transmission chain of the present invention is formed of two parallel chains that are phased or offset by approximately one-half pitch. The chains are connected by struts that extend across the entire width of both chains. The power transmission chain belt of this invention provides for a restricting device in the interchain gap of the load block. Offset occurring during the speed change of a continuously variable transmission can be absorbed by the above mentioned gap. In one embodiment, the restricting device is in the form of a stop ring provided near the middle of the gap between the two side-by-side chains.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1995Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Assignee: Borg-Warner Automotive, K.K.Inventors: Shozo Wakabayashi, Yukio Tomimura, Koji Morishige, Hiroshi Umeda, Park Woo Serk, Mark Alan Boshart

Patent number: 5092822Abstract: A low-noise chain preventing a roller or a bushing from contacting a bottom portion of a sprocket thus reducing impact noise. The low-noise chain includes pairs of inner link plates and pairs of outer link plates alternately lined up with each other, each of the link plates having two insertion holes; connecting pins inserted into the insertion holes of the link plates to couple the inner and the outer link plate; and bushing or rollers disposed around the connecting pin. The roller or bushing has a substantially triangular configuration in transverse cross section and has three intermeshing surfaces on its outer circumference.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1991Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Borg-Warner Automotive K.K.Inventor: Shozo Wakabayashi

Patent number: 4494636Abstract: A one-way clutch wherein a plurality of sprags disposed in an annular array are positioned in an annular space between concentric inner and outer rings. Each sprag has a groove formed therein substantially midway between the ends thereof. A garter spring is fitted within the grooves. An annular retainer is disposed within the annular space. The retainer has axially extending parts which are circularly joined together, whereby the axially extending parts positionally hold the sprags. A ringlike side member of generally channel-shaped cross section is confined between and has inner and outer walls which respectively slidably engage the inner and outer rings. These inner and outer walls are joined by a radial side wall which closely confines the sides of the sprags, which side wall has recesses for accommodating the axially extending parts of the retainer. This radial side wall also has radial wall portions which project between the sides of the sprags and the circularly extending parts of the retainer.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1982Date of Patent: January 22, 1985Assignee: Tsubakimoto-Morse Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shozo Wakabayashi, Kinzo Narita

Patent number: 4360093Abstract: A one-way clutch wherein a plurality of sprags disposed in an annular array are positioned within an annular space between concentric inner and outer rings. Each sprag has a groove formed therein substantially midway between the ends thereof, which groove opens outwardly of the sprag in a direction which extends radially relative to the inner and outer rings. A garter spring is fitted within the grooves defined by the plurality of sprags. An annular retainer is also disposed within the annular space for holding and positionally confining the sprags. The annular retainer has axially extending parts which are circularly joined together, whereby the axially extending parts positionally hold the sprags.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1980Date of Patent: November 23, 1982Assignee: Tsubakimoto-Morse Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shozo Wakabayashi, Kinzo Narita
