Patent number: 11838701Abstract: In one embodiment, systems and method for detecting the intent of a connected optics/cable to operate in either a breakout mode or a non-breakout mode are provided. When a optics/cable is used to connect a port of a spine node to ports of one or more leaf nodes, initially both the spine node and the leaf nodes may automatically configure themselves to operate in breakout mode depending on the optics. Later, the spine node and one or more leaf nodes may exchange speed and optics information using a link layer discovery protocol or another protocol. If the exchanged speed and optics information indicates a mismatch, then the spine node or the leaf node may retain the breakout mode. If the exchanged speed and optic information do not indicate a mismatch, then the spine nodes and the leaf nodes may automatically re-configure themselves in non-breakout mode.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2021Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Prabhu Balakannan, Shrawan Chittoor Surender, Ashwin Ramani, Eshwar Yedavalli, Srinivas Gaddam, Umamaheswararao Karyampudi

Patent number: 11601335Abstract: Presented herein are systems, and methods thereof, that is configured to enter a maintenance mode to isolate itself from its neighbor and to gracefully cause neighbor devices to isolate themselves from the system, as to cause minimal or “zero” service disruption with its neighbors. The system broadcasts a maintenance-related message, via a standard transport layer, over routing protocols, to counter parts protocols at the neighbor device and waits for an acknowledgement message from the neighbor network devices. The broadcast and acknowledgement, through standard transport layer messaging, ensures that traffic generated by such protocols at the neighbor devices, regardless of manufacturer, are redirected before the system fully enters into the maintenance mode.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2021Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Srinivas Pitta, Shrawan Chittoor Surender, Satish Kumar Kondalam, Somnath Roy, Siddartha Gundeti

Patent number: 10574521Abstract: Methods and systems for configuring a local switch and a remote switch configured as peers. The method includes: receiving a configuration for configuring the local switch and the remote switch; checking if resources are available for the configuration on the local switch; when resources are available on the local switch, reserving those resources; checking if resources are available for the configuration of the remote switch; when resources are available on the remote switch, reserving those resources; and applying the configuration to the local switch and the remote switch when resources are available on the local switch and the remote switch.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2017Date of Patent: February 25, 2020Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Pankaj Kumar Rai, Shrawan Chittoor Surender, Srinivas Pitta, Siddartha Gundeti, Narayanaswami Ganapathy

Patent number: 10505918Abstract: In one example, a security application that interfaces one or more cloud application clients in an enterprise network and one or more cloud applications detects a request made by one of the one or more cloud application clients to access a cloud application. The security application sends one or more prompts to the cloud application for one or more responses reflecting current empirical data obtained from the cloud application. The security application receives, from the cloud application, the one or more responses, and generates an application fingerprint that includes the one or more responses.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2017Date of Patent: December 10, 2019Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Deep Chand Patel, Varagur Chandrasekaran, Srinivas Pitta, Shrawan Chittoor Surender
