  • Publication number: 20090324513
Abstract: Present invention relates to disclosure of application of some innovative techniques useful for substantially improving process efficiency of production of chlorinated sucrose including their intermediates and derivatives. Application of mild methods of drying has been made for recovery of chlorinated sucrose or their intermediates and derivatives, in substantially pure form or with other solid chemical impurities, obtained at various stages in the process of production of chlorinated sucrose. Mild methods of drying included agitated thin film drying, spray drying, freeze drying and super critical extraction. Use of alkoxides has been introduced for deacylation instead of alkali hydroxides or alkaline earth hydroxides. Deacylation has been shown to be effective both, either before or after drying of the reaction mixture. Extraction and purification of desired products i.e.

  • Publication number: 20090030193
Abstract: A process of preparation of Vilsmeier-Haack reagent is provided where di(trichloromethyl) carbonate reacts with N,N-dimethylformamide to form a Vilsmeier reagent, which can be used efficiently for chlorination of sucrose-6-acetate or sucrose-6-benzoate and other sucrose acylates. This process has application in the process for preparation of 1-6-Dichloro-1-6-DIDEOXY-?-Fructofuranasyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy-galactopyranoside.

  • Patent number: 7271293
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of controlling a separation process for removing permanganate reducing compounds from a process stream in the methanol carbonylation process for making acetic acid, where the method includes the steps of measuring the density of a stream containing acetaldehyde and methyl iodide, optionally calculating the relative concentrations of acetaldehyde and methyl iodide in the stream, and adjusting distillation or extraction process parameters based on the measured density or one or more relative concentrations calculated therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20060178528
Abstract: A method is disclosed for controlling a methanol carbonylation process for producing acetic acid. The method includes the steps of monitoring the rate of production of the acetic acid; reducing the production rate in response to a change in a process condition or a process equipment condition; after the production rate is reduced, controlling the process at the reduced production rate; and increasing the production rate after the condition change has been addressed until at least the production rate returns to a normal operating range; wherein during at least one of the steps of reducing the production rate, controlling the process at the reduced production rate, and increasing the production rate until the production rate returns to a normal operating range, the process is controlled by nonlinear multivariable control based on a model of the process.

  • Publication number: 20050197513
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of controlling a separation process for removing moving permanganate reducing compounds from a process stream in the methanol carbonylation process for making acetic acid, where the method includes the steps of measuring the density of a stream containing acetaldehyde and methyl iodide, optionally calculating the relative concentrations of acetaldehyde and methyl iodide in the stream, and adjusting distillation or extraction process parameters based on the measured density or one or more relative concentrations calculated therefrom.
