Patent number: 9965766Abstract: The collection of social data from social networking services for market research purposes is improved by automating the formulation of a final query rule sets by analyzing relevant keywords captured using a seed query rule set based on a user input. Relevant keywords from social mentions based on a seed query rule set for a brand name and/or product can be extracted to form at least parts of a final query rule set. The relevant keywords can then be disambiguated by using a searchable reference to resolve ambiguities. Any generalities in the relevant keywords can also be resolved by analyzing the co-occurrence of the relevant keywords with relevant keywords from another brand and/or product. The relevant keywords having been disambiguated and having generalities resolved therein, may be used to automatically generate a final query rule set for providing relevant search results based on the user input.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2015Date of Patent: May 8, 2018Assignee: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventors: Balaji Vasan Srinivasan, Nikhil Mohan Nainani, Tanya Goyal, Kartik Sreenivasan, Shriram Revankar, David Nicholas Bieselin

Patent number: 8065297Abstract: One exemplary method embodiment, pre-processes customer requests that are maintained in a dataset to create a matrix between products and the customer requests. Each of the customer requests comprises at least a customer identification, a textual request, and a product identification related to the textual request. After such pre-processing of the dataset, the method can respond to queries of the dataset using the matrix.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2008Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Wei Peng, Tong Sun, Shriram Revankar

Patent number: 6240205Abstract: A method and apparatus for segmenting image data into windows and for classifying the windows as typical image types includes making two passes through the image data. The method includes a step of making a first pass through the image data to identify windows and to record the beginning points and image types of each of the windows, and a step of making a second pass through the image data to label each of the pixels as a particular image type. The invention also includes a macro-detection method and apparatus for separating a scanline of image data into edges and image runs and for classifying each of the edges and image runs as standard image types. In the macro-detection method, image runs and edges are classified based on micro-detection results and based on image types of adjacent image runs.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1998Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Zhigang Fan, Kathy Ryall, Jeng-Nan Shiau, Shriram Revankar
