  • Publication number: 20080049564
Abstract: A reading method for finding if a disc is placed reversely used in an optical disc drive is provided. The optical disc drive has a spindle motor, an optical pickup head having a lens, a fine actuator and a sled actuator. Firstly, a disc is placed into the optical disc drive. Next, the spindle motor rotates the disc. After that, a laser light of the optical pickup head is shot on the disc. Next, the lens is moved such that the laser light follows a single data track. Then, a central error signal of the lens is measured continuously. Afterwards, if the central error signal increases progressively, the optical disc drive finds the disc placed reversely, and the disc is ejected from the optical disc drive.

  • Publication number: 20080048835
Abstract: A radio frequency identification device includes an integrated circuit including a receiver, a transmitter, and a microprocessor. The receiver and transmitter together define an active transponder. The integrated circuit is preferably a monolithic single die integrated circuit including the receiver, the transmitter, and the microprocessor. Because the device includes an active transponder, instead of a transponder which relies on magnetic coupling for power, the device has a much greater range.

  • Patent number: 7336726
Abstract: Disclosed is an open-loop power control method for base station in a broadband GSM system. The method employs an open-loop control method and implements the power control for each carrier after synthesizing multi-way digital intermediate frequencies. In this method, the dynamic power level control and the slope power control are implemented individually by utilizing an inherent characteristic that the up-down slope control (including the static power control) of the respective carrier frequencies is performed synchronously. The open-loop power control method for multi-carrier according to the invention allows the power control for the respective carriers to be independent of each other completely, and the transmitting power of any carrier at any time slot can be varied flexibly and easily.

  • Patent number: 7334514
Abstract: This invention provides a modular, efficient and self-feedback/balance, fluid-powered actuation system. This system comprises two basic modules; actuation module and positioning module, which are directly connected to each other. The actuation modules can be constructed as a triple acting actuator having a novel balanced linear-rotary mechanism converter or a double acting actuator with two novel balance guide bars. The positioning module is constructed as a two-staged, self-feedback/balance positioner with position as a variable for controlling positions of an output shaft of the actuation modules. An input shaft in the positioning module is operated by three types input signals. This system also provides a rotary force to actuate and control different rotary valves with lighter weight, superior seal and high accuracy and can be used for quick cycle, high vibration applications or other critical services.

  • Patent number: 7336658
Abstract: A method and system of assigning paths through an interconnection network (100) consisting of a plurality of switching elements (102:165) and a plurality of links coupling the switching elements (102:165) are provided. Physical restrictions of the interconnection network (100) are used to arrive at a logical representation of an architecture of the interconnection network (100). Traffic patterns of the interconnection network (100) are determined to balance the data traffic through the links coupling the switching elements (102:165). The logical representation and traffic patterns of the interconnection network (100) are used to setup virtual channel identifiers that determine paths through the switching elements and links so that data traffic is more evenly distributed through the interconnection network (100).

  • Publication number: 20080045828
Abstract: An MRI k-space data set is acquired using a series of shell k-space sampling trajectories of different radii. Off-resonance effects are reduced and fat-suppression can be improved by using a shorter TR for pulse sequences that sample at smaller radii. At larger radii sampling is repeated with the central axis of the shell sampling trajectory tilted such that the polar regions of shells acquired at the same radii are sampled by the other shell.
