  • Patent number: 5567621
Abstract: Sample water is supplied to an oxidative decomposer, heated to 90.degree. C. under presence of a photooxidation catalyst, and irradiated with ultraviolet radiation by a low pressure mercury lamp while being supplied with air, to cause photooxidative decomposition reaction. After the reaction, nitric acid ions are measured with an absorption photometer at a wavelength of 220 nm. Then, a color developer is added to the sample water, and the colored solution is employed for measurement of phosphoric ions with the absorption photometer at a wavelength of 880 nm.

  • Patent number: 5443780
Abstract: An oriented film with improved tensile strength and Young's modulus can be produced by melting and extruding poly-L-lactic acid and/or poly-D-lactic acid to form a film and, after the film is cooled rapidly, by subjecting it to a stretching process at a temperature above the glass transition temperature and below the cold-crystallization temperature. The stretching may be effected by a method of uniaxial stretching with constant width, successive biaxial stretching or simultaneous biaxial stretching. A thermal treatment may be effected after the stretching process. Films thus obtained have tensile strength over 6 kgf/mm.sup.2 in the stretching direction, Young's modulus over 220 kgf/mm.sup.2 in the stretching direction and transparency to visible light over 90%.

  • Patent number: 5116736
Abstract: A method for the quantitative determination of micro-organisms or pyrogens which comprises introducing a prescribed amount of a test liquor containing micro-organisms or pyrogens into a total carbon analyzer to obtain a total carbon value A, while removing micro-organisms or pyrogens from the prescribed amount of the same test liquor and introducing the resultant into a total carbon analyzer to obtain a total carbon value B, subtracting the total carbon value B from the total carbon value A and determining micro-organisms or pyrogens basing upon the resulting value, and an apparatus suitable for conducting the method.

  • Patent number: 4897468
Abstract: Peptide-containing compounds such as enzymes, antibodies and antigens are immobilized on metal hydroxy gels formed by hydrolysis of metal alkoxides in an aqueous solvent while evaporating off the solvent. Preferably, hydrogen fluoride is present in the solvent during hydrolysis to provide a fluoride-substituted metal hydroxy gel. Water containing lower alcohol is a preferred solvent. The gel is treated with a coupling agent and a peptide-containing compound is chemically bonded to the gel.

  • Patent number: 4597848
Abstract: There are disclosed an ion selective electrode which adopted a solid polymer membrane with specific ion exchangers, and an apparatus and measuring method with the above-mentioned electrode. The electrode is suitable for the quantitative chemical analysis of a specific ion activity in electrolytic solutions with various foreign ions, for example an activity of chloride ion in blood, urine or any other biological solutions.
